View Full Version : Good MMORPG Ideas...

I was thinking about this last night, and I was wondering if any of you had any good ideas for a MMORPG. The only one I have come up with, and I have had this idea for a few years now, is a Pokemon MMO. Ive said it before on the G4 Forums for those who know me there as Captain Dreamcast, you catch and battle pokemon, you could challenge others to battle, go to gyms, and maybe even become a Gym Leader yourself. But, you wouldnt just have to be a pokemon trainer, you could be a Pokemon Breeder or just focus on one type of pokemon or a Pokemon Photographer (like the kid from Pokemon Snap) so many possibilities. Any other ideas for a good MMO?

But really, I'd like a cyberpunk MMORPG that didn't suck!

I think mmorpg's potential was fulfilled when WoW was announced...

Pokemon MMO could work. The only thing that I think would prevent it is that Pokemon fans are primarily <18 and don't have a credit card. Most parents are still weired about monthly fees on credit cards, and time cards cost a lot to make ship and sell in 3rd party locations.

I don't really have a new Idea per say, mine is more of what I wish an MMORPG would do and that is mix more elements from the RPG single player experiance into the mix. Like maybe have one of several random storylines to begin after you create your character. For example imagine you create your character and as soon as he spawns there will be events to your own more or less unique epic quest. One that is more than just deliver this or kill "X" bad guys.

I know it would take companies a long time to come up with many unique quests like that but I for one would love to have that Baldurs Gate RPG feel mixed in with your traditional MMO's. Just something that caters to you that's not just "busywork".

A WWII MMORPG that didn't suck...
Actually a Pokemon MMORPG might be kinda fun
