My computer is so bad that upgrading half of the things that need to be upgraded will cost as much as a brand new computer. I need a good computer, 256MB card, 512 or more RAM,a good hard drive, a good power supply, a DVD drive, a DVD burner, and whatever. Please find the cheapest possible one. thanks.

First off, are you interesting in building it yourself, or do you want it preassembled? (You can save a few $$$ making it yourself)

If so, I'm sure someone (empty cough) will hook you up with some killer part links.
If not, you can entirely customize your own system, at Ibuypower.com

And then of course, you could do the dell run, and customize it yourself, a bit.

Or do you just want us to look at uncustomized systems from dell, gateway, acer, etc?

probally buy it premade. I am not experienced with building computers and I don't know anyone who could build one for me.

I did a customized Dell XPS 600, $2,229
Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Windows Media Center 2005 Edition
Nvidia 256MB GeForce 7800 GTX
2GB RAM DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz-4 DIMM
160GB HD
16x DVD drive/48x CD-RW
no monitor (have a really nice one already)
no mouse
no keyboard
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (D) sound card
no speakers

is it good and worth 2,000 dollars?

First off, why would you want Windows Media Center? Unless you have a TV capture card, there is no need to get it.

2GB of RAM is also overkill. I really don't get why that costs more than $2000 though. I can think of a setup that would do just as well for half the price. I'm too lazy to do all the parts hunting or prebuilt website searching though.

Oh 7800 GTX. No wonder. That costs as much as a computer by itself. Ripoff.

It has party mode and the dancing girls, therefore it is awesome.

I have a question also (still trying to put together a PC). If I buy a tower with a celeron processor, can I swap that out and put in a better processor?? I can get a decent tower for cheap (and with windows already), but I don't want a celeron.

If it's Socket 478 then both Celerons and Pentium 4/M's can go in it. Are you sure you can't get it without the CPU? If not there then someone else should allow that option. Seems silly that you could only get it with a CPU, and one type of CPU at that.
