Homer Simpson once said, "It's funny, cause it's true." The video game industry is huge (bololololol) and often times the funniest stories to emerge stem from bad corporate decisions, stupid gamers, or shoddy game making.
It's funny, cause it's true.
While there are other web comics about games/tech, none of them have Ted Bracewell doing the art, and that's just wrong. Many of you have enjoyed Teds work on the Electric Playground comics and the animated shorts Park Wars and How the Sith Stole Christmas. He is truly a great talent, truly a passionate gamer, and we're truly lucky to work with him on FREE PLAY.
Free Play is a chance for us to have fun with the gaming world while creating our own world filled with characters and commentary about the industry we love.

Our first comic was meant to strike squarely at the launch of the next-generation. Orchestrated shortages and pre-rendered videos have been the topic of conversation, instead of mind blowing games.
While Sony fanboys slam the Xbox 360 as only a minor upgrade, they've got to be concerned that just 6 months before the supposed launch we've seen nothing REAL that resembles those E3 videos.
If Sony's launch lineup doesn't blow the 360 out of the water then it's going to be 2nd wave 360 games going against 1st wave PS3 games and that could spell trouble for Sony's huge market share.
Is there really a shortage of 360's? I dunno but I somehow feel like we'll see just enough consoles to fill demand until the week or two before christmas when they will be snatched up by grandmas around the country.
For me the 360 actually comes at the perfect time. I've been getting "Disc Might Be Dirty Or Damaged" errors for months on my original Xbox. I got it on launch day over 4 years ago. I don't have a lot of other 4 year old tech products that I use 4-5 times a week. If you average out the cost per day on my original Xbox it's almost .25 cents a day. Not a bad value IMO. While the price of next-gen is expensive, if you're a hardcore gamer it's really just a few cents a day over the life of the system.
