I'm sure that you've seen the news recently, from Digg (http://www.digg.com/gaming/Sega_Genesis_Lives_New_Genesis_Game_To_Be_Released _Spring_2006) to Joystiq (http://joystiq.com/2006/01/05/beggar-prince-for-sega-genesis-to-be-released-spring-2006/), that there's a new Sega Genesis/Megadrive/Nomad game being commercially released called Beggar Prince (http://www.beggarprince.com/). But, it seems that it's raised many questions from those who read the initial press clippings.

Why the high price? Why now, for the Genesis? Does anyone care? Why does the dialouge in the screenshots look so...bad?

Well, The Bobby Blackwolf Show (http://www.allgames.com/podcast/) set out to find out. We were able to sit down with Brandon Cobb, President of Super Fighter Team (http://www.superfighter.com/), the San Diego based independant game developer bringing the Taiwanese RPG to English audiences, and recorded a very candid 30+ minute interview with him, touching on various issues brought up in comment sections everywhere, including those requested by our very own Allgames.com forum members (http://forums.allgames.com/showthread.php?t=11794).

We will be playing the interview in it's entirety on the Sunday, January 15th live episode of The Bobby Blackwolf Show (http://www.allgames.com/podcast/), which you can listen to live via our SHOUTcast stream and participate in our live chat room. It will then be available on our podcast feed (subscribe in iTunes (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=76702509)) in time for the Monday morning commute, also in it's entirety.

Tune in, and learn why Super Fighter Team's motto is "Never Let Dreams Die!"

ADDENDUM: The interview has now been aired live and is available on our Podcast feed. For those not subscribed, you can download the episode by clicking on this link (22MB MP3) (http://feeds.feedburner.com/BobbyBlackwolfShow?m=26) and going to the 24:05 minute mark.

Many thanks to Brandon Cobb for taking the time out of his busy schedule to speak with us.

I thought that was a good interview. He's certainly enthusiastic about this game. Hope it does well for the company. Wish I had a Sega to play it on, perhaps one day.

*bump*

Game arrived this morning. I dusted off my Genesis and played a little bit of it before coming into my day job - I'll be playing it more before my show this Sunday and give my impressions of it.

Wow, first I've seen of this. Is it really as purty as the screenshots posted on the site?

That it does. I'm playing it on my widescreen, it looks great for a Genesis game.

I stumbled on to the super fighter website by accident which in turn directed me to your site so i could hear the interview. I've been a fan of your show ever since. After hearing the interview i eventualy bought a copy of the game but mine has not shipped yet. As a hardcore classic famer i am verry excited to see what a moder publication can do with semi ancient technology. Games tend to get better throughout the life of a console but at some point you come to a point were technology can only do so much. I am curious to see how this game will stand up to games like shining force and phantasy star which basicly own the RPG genre on the gennesis. From the screenshots online it looks alot like a SNES game which always had a little bit of an edge on graphical quality over the genesis. I am looking foward to hear what you have to say about it on your show as well as forming my opinion when the game finaly arives!!!

I know I can pick up a Genesis anywhere for $15-20 or so, but honestly, I'd like the option to purchase the game for use with an emulator. I just sold my Nomad off a couple of years ago. Now I wish I'd just held onto it and tossed it in the closet with the rest of my abandonware.

Okay, the latest show is up. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with Shining Force or Phantasy Star (I wish I did!) so I didn't really compare it to those games.

Anyway, here's the pictures of the packaging that I promised on the show:

Wha-wha-WHAAAAAT?

And just what do you mean by "much experience" with Shining Force or Phantasy Star, Mr. Blackwolf?

:p

Phantasy Star II remains my all-time favorite Genesis title. Although Mutant League Football is a close #2.

As in "I did not get the Genesis until I got the Sega CD, and that was near the end of the Genesis' lifespan"...

That and I really didn't appreciate RPG's until college.

I know, it's sad...I need to either find the cart versions or play them on Gametap sometime (they're there, I've started them but haven't played far.)

They should release a SNES version too, and reignite the Sega/Nintendo fanboy war again haha :)
