September is a busy month. For everyone who has deep pockets, what OTHER game are you thinking about getting besides the MUST-HAVE Fable. Rocky Legends rules all? I mean...maybe?

Fable's the only one I plan on getting for Xbox. I'll be getting HL2,SW Battlefront and Sims 2 on PC though.

You're actually missing Sims 2, but that's PC and I'm assuming this is a Console poll.

(It's coming out September 14th.)

It was actually an X-Box only poll...

I'd have to say none, Fable should cover the rest of 2004 for me. Unless Halo 2 can interupt the flow.

IGN posted an in depth preview of Fable and if it does half of what IGN says it does, it is going to be great. I am also looking forward to Burnout 3.

Fable, Guilty Gear X 2, and Star Wars Battlefront are the only things I'm looking forward to in September.

That's three games in one month...I mean that's a pretty good month...

Well Fable is the next new game I have plans to buy, I want StarWars Battle front, and thinking about getting Def Jam 2. It all depends on how much money I will have to spend, I'm going on vacation in early September so it won't be much, and I have a few other things I want to buy like a new stereo for my room. But I will definitly be getting Fable before any other game.

Fable is the only one I will be able to cough the money up for, although I might try to scrounge up a few extra bucks for NHL 2k5

It's so interesting how developers just HOLD these games till the Fall before the Holiday season begins, and right now towards the end of the summer...there is such a calm before the storm. I can't think of a single thing to put in my xbox right now besides some pigskin.

You gotta give them the thumbs up for their smart marketing ploy.

Fable is coming out in about two weeks. Do most of you have it pre-ordered? I think a thread-- designated to discussing our very own heroes would be cool. HOWEVER I figured I'd wait till it was released to begin such a thread.

I have it preordered already, yeah.

On one of the other forums I frequent we're gonna be taking pictures of our character as we progress through the game so we can compare what we all became...

A Fable is coming? Not The Fable?
Anyways, Def Jam: Fight for NY looks fun. The first surprised me and I'm hoping this does the same.

I've been waiting for Fable for so fucking long, and after reading a few reviews I've decided to not even bother with the shit. They really dropped the ball on this game because they were talking about all this innovative shit, but it took so long for it to come out and what sounded innovative in the past is now nothing new to us. It's basically The Sims meet Legend of Zelda, and that's not what I call a cool game.

I'm just looking forward to PC games like STALKER and Half-Life 2.

You might be right, after checking out the Gamespot review, well it was put in less than FLATERING words...

"Fable is a well-put-together but standard action adventure...Fable's introduction is not reflective of most of the game's quests, which don't give you many choices...The combat isn't really a challenge once you inevitably figure out a few key tricks...there isn't necessarily a clear incentive to play through the entire game over from scratch once you've finished it the first time...you should be able to squeeze a good 20 to 30 hours out of it when all is said and done...Ultimately, there really isn't much to character interaction in Fable...It's strangely disorienting to be required to restart a simple side quest from the beginning when Fable is presumably a game about living with the consequences of your actions...Fable consists of a sequence of relatively small, winding, interconnected maps, separated by noticeably lengthy loading times"

All that, coupled with the fact that a lot of the terrain and beautiful wilderness is unaccesible gives me plenty of good reasons to avoid it.

When I read the review in a magazine some years back (a year or more before the Xbox itself was even out) it mentioned all this mind blowing shit. How you play through the game with your character from being a little kid to a 65 year old man and recieve scars in life from battles. How whatever decision you make directly effects the outcome and circumstances in the game. How you could be an evil as fuck dude with a heart filled with hatred, or a goody two shoes knight with a heart of gold.

Eventually though games like Morrowind came out and put Fable to shame. Even though you couldn't age in Morrowind you could do everything else. Now that Fable is out, and a lot of the awesome features bragged about years before are either not in the game or were champed by others that came out before it, I just don't see the need.

All I'm saying dudes is that it's not going to be as good as Peter Molyneux made it out to be. That doesn't mean it won't be a good game (a friend of mine told me it was awesome but not as great as it was described to be) because I'm sure it is. Just not as good as was promised. If you see where I'm coming from then you rule. If you can't see where I'm coming from, I don't know how else to illustrate my point.

not here, or at least at BestBuy ( I work there) and in todays sales paper, it says Thursday.

Best Buy always gets games a day later than specialty stores such as EBGames and Gamestop.

They overnight the shipment - you guys two day air them. :>

Oh I see. But what happened to games coming out on Tuesdays? or was it only DvDs and music cds that come out on Tuesdays?

Blackwolf
09-13-2004, 09:48 AM
They stagger, a little bit. But games still ship on Tuesdays. Sometimes they ship earlier and have a street date of Tuesdays, but they always try to put the actual gold mastering off until as late as humanly possible to squash that last bug.

Actually... There is no set street date for Fable. It ships the 14th, most stores will have it the 15th, MY store will have it tomorrow :)

Yeah.... I know I'm supposed to be gone, I dont actually leave until tomorrow.
