This is going to be nuts. (http://comics.ign.com/articles/691/691660p1.html)

And while I haven't been reading any of comics lately, I do know that they've managed to destroy the Avengers once last year (with the House of M storyline) and seem to be doing it again. Along with many of their other teams.

Marvel must be going out of business or something, because I don't see them able to kill off so many of their key characters.

It's stuff like this that makes me wish I read more marvel comics.

I don't like the look of Cap vs. Iron Man. Not that great.

The New Avengers is a kick ass comic though...I don't know why they keep messing with it.

Maybe this can be the next Infinity Gauntlet?

This may actually bring be back into reading comics. Though if the Hulk being off planet, means he has no part in any of this I'll be pretty dissappointed.

EDIT: Anybody know any good sites to order from? I used to have a great mail order company I went threw years ago, but I can't remember the name. Maybe I'll pick up a Wizard tomorrow and see if I recognize anything.

I usually buy my comics from MileHighComics.com and use their discount codes. They're pretty cheap, but usually high for new releases.

Thanks KKR, I checked it out, but what I'm looking for is something like click here to order the Civil War set every month. So I don't have to locate every issue, if it's on that I missed it, seems like a cool site though.

I think the only way to do that is pick up the newest ish and subscribe to it...if they do that anymore.

IGN gets a preview. (http://comics.ign.com/articles/700/700643p1.html)

Wolverine's going to be minor, a few deaths, a checklist...

And Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_%28comics%29) has organized some more of the info, including sides of certain people.

Spider-Man is against the act and thinks Iron Man is as well (I suppose that's explains the cover to Civil War #2, in which Spider-Man is split between his old and new suit), She-Hulk is divided between herself, Illuminati and Fantastic Four split up.

:p

Ummm isn't Bucky the Winter Soldier in the current Captain America comic? Least that's what they were claiming the few issues I read of it. As for Civil War........there's just to many friggin books to buy. I might just collect THOSE books. Piss on buying all the tie-in books. Right now Infinite Crisis >>>>>>>>> Anything Marvel is currently putting out.

I wouldn't know...haven't picked up a new comic in a little over 10 years now.

It used to be a well-worn phrase mocking the seemingly monthly death-then-resurrections of some minor, some not so minor, characters in comics' continuity. But after the prism, die-cut, gatefold, hologram, foil, multiple covers, collector's edition bullshit fiasco that Marvel, Image & DC crapped out onto their fans back in the early 90's...comics were dead to me.

Occasionally, however, I see that spark trying to reel me back in...if the initial word-of-mouth on this one is good, I might just take a look.

Picked it up today & liked it. Looks like it's going to be an interesting read. I still have no plans to buy all these damn Tie-In books though.
As for Free Comic Book Day, here's what I got....X-Men:Runaways ( It has a portion of that book, a short Franklin Richards strip, portion Marvel Adventures: The Avengers & lastly a recap of everything going on in Ultimate Spiderman ), G.I Joe: Sigma 6, Donald Duck, Superman/Batman #1 ( pretty much a reprinting of the issue ), Justice League Unlimited #1, Star Wars/Conan split issue, Bongo Comics ( Simpsons Come Book Guy book ), Star Wars: Rebellion/Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic #0 split issue, Archie 65th Anniversary Bash #1, Arcana Studios presents #3, Worlds of Aspen #1, Transformers: Infiltration/ Beast Wars: The Gathering split issue, 2 mini Viz manga sampler books & last but not least a Wolverine HeroClix figurine/ game piece.
Not a bad haul on Free Comic Book Day, eh? heh.

Falcon you are EVIL!!!!!!!

Do you know how many years it's been since I bought a comic. I swear if I'm back to buying 20 - 30 different titles a month again I'm blaming you.

:D

Blue Falcon

Moon, you'll buy all 81 books (all related titles including pre, main story, and related issues) and you'll like it. :D

Although, I'm thinking about waiting for the whole story to go to TPB, so I can get it all in one shot (and avoid listening to my parents looking at me in shame if they were to see me collect comic books again...I lack friends as it is). I'm thinking about getting back into comics altogether doing that (I know I'm going to start reading Young Avengers when the second TPB set comes out, because I've heard nothing but great things about that comic)

Uh, I guess I'm just not getting it, but is this Civil War set in a seperate universe or something? I'm following Civil War, but I was looking into other comic series in the Marvel universe (X-men, House of M, etc) and it's not even mentioned. Am I missing something or do they just ignore certain plots in certain comics?

a huge shocker in the marvel universe just happened, From the Civil Wars storyline, Spiderman has done the unthinkable and revealed his true identity as Peter Peter at a Press Conference, More info about it here (http://marvel.com/news/comicstories.488).

N: No, this is part of Earth 616, and whatnot. The X-Men have a four issue mini-series, known as Civil War: X-Men, but beyond that, nothing else. Well, unless you count Wolverine [who's been a part of the Avengers for awhile now, but that's not the point]. The Civil War Checklist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_%28comics%29#Civil_War_checklist) shows all the comics related to the Civil War.

TigerClaw: Crazy, huh? Oh man, Spider-Man looks to be in a lot of trouble with that CW#5 cover.

This deserves a bump considering the last issue comes out in a few weeks.

The SHRA is the right thing and even if Cap wins, it won't change the law suddenly. It will only tarnish his reputation even more.

I was under the impression you didn't have enough to read Civil War...

Also, yes it is the worst thing ever because it is not making anyone interested in comics again nor is it drastically chaning the staus quo for many characters in the Marvel U. Worst thing to ever hit comics.

the internet. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_%28Marvel_Comics%29#Synopsis)

now, on your points hidden by sarcasm which you use as a sort of "veil" to hide your unoriginality, one could say the same of the god-awful "clone saga," the horrible "onslaught" event and the poorly disguised relaunch that was the aftermath, and the dissapointment that was" avengers disassembled." now, if history has taught us anything, it's that this will not last and the status quo will be restored a few years later with little to no mention of the event again.

how can you say avengers dissassembled was horrible?

oh? your post led me to believe you thought this civil war crap would become the new status quo

now, i could go on about why i hate avengers disassembled, but i'll try my hardest to sum it up: apparently the scarlet witch went crazy when her children "died" (which makes no sense whatsoever since she married a damn robot and therefor she shoudn't have gotten pregnant in the first place) without showing any signs for over 15 years and then suddenly, she pulls a "malice" and goes ape-shit, indirectly killing three avengers including her "husband," and then the crappy new deus ex machina known as dr. strange shows up out of nowhere, says there's no such thing as chaos magic even though he's used it countless times before, is surprised to hear that her children never existed even though he delivered them, and solves the fucking thing.

silverfirebolt
02-22-2007, 09:24 PM
Her children were never born, nor did was she ever pregnant. She manipulated reality so she could become pregnant in the first place. The twin sons were created from fragments of the soul of Mephesto. When Mephesto reabsorbed the souls (which would explian the loss of her children), they destroyed Mephesto and were reincarnated as Thomas Shepard (Speed) and Billy Kaplan (Wiccan) both members of the Young Avengers. Both of them look alike. Wiccan has the powers of Scarlet Witch while Speed has the powers of Quicksilver.

As to why she did all of it, the emmotional strain finally began to get to her. Wasp mentioned her children which, in conjunction with her growing powers, led to her mental breakdown.

As for Strange, who else has the magical know-how to handle Wanda?

And as for chaos magic, it was a mistake on the writer's part that Strange mentions that it never exsisted. But I'm sure that little detail will get retconned in due time.

dear god, what the fuck happened to you using proper grammar? mephisto has no soul. he is a construct of pure evil. wanda stole broken fragments of him for her children. mephisto tried absorb them but failed for some unspecified reason, and the fragments were absorbed by two different children. on a side note, technically, she did give birth.

why the hell would she have a breakdown because she wants children when she married a goddamn robot? she's either an idiot, or posessed.

i wouldn't have a beef over strange, but the fact that he popped up out of fucking nowhere after all of the chaos when he can teleport instantly where ever the hell he wants and could have stopped it before it began could have saved us a lot of crappy stories and spared us several plotholes.

none of these plotholes have been resolved. spider-man has a fucking daughter somewhere and hasn't been referenced since excuding spider-girl.
