Holy shit, I didn't know this was getting a U.S. theatrical release. When they said it was coming to the U.S. I just assumed it was going to be straight to video. Fucking awesome!
Also, whenever I see his pose with the paddle, I think of pyramid head.

I got to see this movie a LONG time ago and have a screener copy at home that friends of mine are constantly borrowing. The thing is a classic and has more hidden references in it than any super horror geek could pick up. But, my favorite aspect is that it's a comedy that doesn't pull any punches on making it a full out, dark horror flick that will actually get many more emotions out of you than just a laugh. Simon and Ed, the two characters that star in this flick is based on/a spin off of an episode from their great video gamey/geek sienfeld'ish show "Spaced".

Ah yes, the lads from Spaced make their film debut. Very funny film as it was 'inspired' by a long session of Resident Evil on the PSOne :) Oh and that 'paddle' is a cricket bat!
Highly recommended!

Personally, I can't wait for Shaun of the Dead. The title has a vague similarity to another movie that I have seen lately.

OK, SotD opened this weekend and it rocked!
It was funny as hell, bloody as hell, and had a few homages to some classic zombie movies. It was clever and I was surprised at a few of the curveballs they threw in.
Edgar Wright did a very good job directing too. The action scenes were well laid out and the quick cuts were used appropriately. Its not an easy thing to do when mixing horror with humor but it was done with style. The balance of scares vs laughs was weighed out perfectly. Kudos.
Shaun of the dead will be held in the same regard as horror/humor classics like The Evil dead, Army of Darkness and Dead Alive.
