Wrestling stars busted in Hanging Rock, OH
HANGING ROCK — Two wrestling superstars from Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment may be tough in the ring, but they didn’t have enough muscle to escape drug charges after being stopped Sunday night by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Robert Alex Szatowski, aka WWE and ECW champion Rob Van Dam, and Terry Michael Brunk, aka Sabu, also a former ECW champion, were pulled over on U.S. 52, near Patrick Street in Hanging Rock at about 10:15 p.m. The two were apparently driving from their performances at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena earlier in the evening.
According to the OSHP, Szatowski was initially stopped for speeding. When troopers approached his vehicle, they smelled marijuana and performed a search. Troopers found the wrestler in possession of 18 grams of marijuana and five Vicodin, prescription pain pills. Brunk was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also had nine pills that were not immediately identifiable, but were known to be controlled substances, according to the OSHP. Both were cited and posted bond at the scene.
Szatowski, of Battle Creek, Mich., has had a long, successful career with both the WWE and ECW. In addition to being the current champion of both, he has been intercontinental champion six times, hardcore champion four times and has been a part of several championship tag team duos. He is scheduled to wrestle tonight on WWE Raw and is also wrestling Tuesday night to retain his WWE and ECW titles during the “Extreme Rules Match” on the Sci-Fi channel.
Brunk, who lists his hometown as Bombay, India, on the WWE Web site, has also had a successful career with the ECW, earning world heavyweight championship titles two times and tag team championship honors three times.
Both Brunk and Szatowski are scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court. Both wrestlers won their matches last night in Huntington, W.Va. Van Dam defeated the Big Show and Sabu defeated Justin Credible.

Everyone knows RVD likes to smoke weed. But now that he's the champion, he's probably going to get his ass chewed out.

Or fired...
Same goes for Sabu too.Since the WWE has a no-tolerance policy when it comes to drugs.

So now Vince can follow his own rules and cripple his new product (and give TNA huge boost), or he can be a huge hypocrite. I think he'll go with the latter. They're letting them both wrestle today and tomorrow.

Hey they need they weed and pills so they can do all of that crazy shit they do in the ring.
Sabu and Scott D'Amore were in attendance at the 6/23 Ring Of Honor show in Detroit. Sabu was telling people that he didn't expect to last in WWE much longer. from prowrestling.com

Most of you probably know by now, wwe.com even posted about it, RVD and Sabu were pulled over the other night with 18 grams of weed, pills, etc. WWE has a very strict policy reguarding the use of drugs which pretty much says that anyone caught with them will be terminated from the company. I hope this all works out :(

I agree. With all the shit they do in the ring, I have no problem with them smoking weed or taking pills. It's not the best way to deal with pain, but it sure is effective.

Their usage most certainly does not seem to inhibit their abilities in the ring.

It's the principle, man. They put in this new tough policy after Eddie croaks, and now they're just going to blow it off because a top guy was busted? That's a joke.
And I realize how stupid that sounds. It's Vince McMahon and WWE.

I think Eddie died due to some sort of heart failure caused by previous drug usage. It's probably a safe bet that he continued some drug use in the months before he died.

They've had drug policy for a long time. Both Jeff Hardy and Road Dog were let go because of drug use. Who knows, RVD might be let go to. They did take his title away. But then two of their top stars in ECW would be gone, pretty much killing it.
By the way, why haven't they brought back more people to ECW? They managed to get Sabu out of TNA, why not the Dudley's or Raven. Maybe even Shane Douglas could lose a few pounds and come back.

Eddie had been clean for years... it just finally caught up with him.
ECW is totally screwed if RVD and Sabu are let go, which could easily happen... GG.
Sabu's going back to TNA, and RVD is going with him. I don't think TNA has a big drug policy. Just ask Jeff Hardy.

They have not been released yet... and WWE has stated that action will not be taken against them until they go to court.

They dropped their old policy in '96. Road Dogg showed up to a show drugged out. That's not so much a drug policy as being professional. I don't know what Hardy did, but I'm guessing whatever it was affected his in-ring performance.

Hardy got fired for missing shows because of his drug problems. The one who got fired for drugs big time was the King's son Brian Christopher Lawler who got caught with blow. Pretty much I think they will take it easier on RVD and Sabu because it was only weed

There are a few reasons why they are under contract by TNA (I believe that Sabu was not under contract but being Paid as Appearence), most of them hate the WWE management (Shane Douglas for one, also he hates Ric Flair), and they most likely feel that TNA is better for their careers right now.

It wasn't just weed. Painkillers, too, which were supposed to be a big no-no under the new policy. And if they don't think marijuana is a big deal, they should take it out of the policy. As it is, they should treat it the same way as everything else that's prohibited.
Anybody but a top guy would be gone already. Whatever. I'll be happy if neither guy is released, as they're two of the best workers in WWE. It will just show how much of a joke Vince is.

I know. Its just wishful thinking. Shane Douglas I couldnt give a shit about, I never liked him. I cant get used to the Dudleys in TNA, especially with their stupid name(s) (Team 3D, brother so and so). And Raven seems like wasted talent, plus I think going back to ECW would get him back to normal, instead of wearing makeup, chopping and dying his hair and wearing a skirt. I used to like Raven alot back in his ECW/WCW days. But he went to shit as soon as he went to the WWE.

He went to shit when he started eatting to many sandwitches and got fat. Now I dont see Raven I just see a Big Fat Goth running around. And yeah I really do hate the Dudleys TNA names, and how they aren't even getting the pushes they deserve, I mean to have them getting their ass kicked every other week by James Gang, but thats the price we have to pay to see Spike/Runt ripping up the contract that ECW sent him.

I dont mind the James Gang kicking their ass, as im a much bigger New Age Outlaws fan. But seeing Americas Most Wanted doing it so much started to piss me off.

Well, as of right now RVD has lost both Championships and is Suspended for 30 days(thats from WWE.com) with still the chance of getting fired. I kind of feel sorry for WWE/ECW Creative team cause now they have to change months of storyline real quick, which they did for today and yesterday.

They should've just stripped him of the title. The fucking Big Show? Why's he even on the show? I'm surprised the fans didn't burn the building down.
And fuck WWE "Creative." With all the stupid shit they're putting out, they'll never get my sympathy. I thought it was just Vince now, anyways. Fuck him.

It's not that Im feeling sorry for them since they have to do all this work, it's that I know they are going to be lazy about it like I would be.
Well, I took a break from some fireworks last night to catch a little of ECW. And since RVD got busted for smokin' that wacky tobacky, they gave the title, the ECW CHAMPIONSHIP, to...The Big Show.
Yes, The Big Show.

I considered it a "discuss the big show" thread.

They should have just waited till they got somewhere to smoke. 8 grams gone, possible legal action, suspensions, losing both titles that he just got after waiting so long, and the possibility of getting fired. They should have just smoked outside somewhere or waited till they got to their hotel.

Thats stupid. Why not suspend Sabu and fine RVD? That way they could keep him as champ.
Did anyone else see that dead on cup throw. It hit Heyman directly in the face, and he didnt even so much as flinch. I want to find a video of it so I can make a gif.

I guarantee he will. All things considered, he's getting off really light. All indications are he won't lose a top spot upon his return.
And apparently Sabu had a prescription for his painkillers, and his pipe was legal. He only got a fine for having estrogen blockers(?).
