News reports about a Hong Kong based company called Artificial Life (http://www.artificial-life.com/) that has developed a solution for men without a partner, in the form of a virtual girlfriend (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3591856.stm) that appear as an animated figure on the video screen of a mobile phone.

The company has plans to introduce a virtual boyfriend for women, although it remains to be seen how it will persuade them to spend extra money on the game.
They'll have the girls unwittingly join a phone sex racket by making them perform calls to "level up."
