I don't know if this is the right forum, but..

When I record songs from CDs onto iTunes, they always skip. I don't know if when I play it on my iPod they will still skip or not (I don't have a cable yet). Any help on how to eliminate skipping or if the skipping will even transfer to the iPod would be appreciated.

Make sure you have no other background processes running. They can take up CPU time that should be used ripping CD's...

I had a problem, like that with iTunes on Windows, only it happened on random songs. I went to into Edit > Preferences and deselected the "Use error correction when reading audio cds" checkbox. WARNING: I don't know if this'll work, but it might be worth a try. I'd back up your Itunes folder first.

Honestly, I would suggest using ExactAudioCopy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) and then looking for a copy of the LAME MP3 3.90.3 encoder.

I find these offer the best quality rips for my MP3s, and have yet to run into any problems with sound artifacts.

If you are looking to just rip tunes you could use dbpoweramp.

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

It's what I use, it's free & I've had no problems with it.
