View Full Version : Downloading at 3000 kb/sec?!

Can this be right? I'm downloading the WOW_stresstest_Beta.zip folder and it says its going at like 3000kb/sec, its slowly going down but its still in the thousands.. but no progress is showing up and it says estimated time ??? remaining... err???????

I've gone 5mb/s(5000kb/s) before. It is possible.

3000 Kbps is only 3 Mbps.

That's Kilobits. Its certainly nothing to sneeze at, but that only comes out to 375 KBps -- Kilobytes.

Most sites Cap their downloads to under 300kb/s.

I've gotten around 5mb/s max for about 10 seconds straight.

That would be less than 40KBps.

I've never seen a site that was hosted on a large pipe (meaning, not a personally hosted site) restrict downloads to 40KBps.

I'm guessing your using Firefox to download the beta also? I tried to redl this file many times with Firefox due to other download managers crapping up the file and the download speed always starts off at like 100000 kb/s or such. It won't download at that speed obviously, and lots of other download managers show this.

america's army is 600+ MB's I downloaded the whole thing at a about 3000 kb/s with no slowdown.. total time to finish the d/l = 6 minutes.
