NHL2k5 is going to be THE best hockey game to-date. This year is better, NOW you can ACTUALLY hit someone with a stick! :)

No, NHL 97 is the best hockey game of all time. If they fixed some of the bad AI and add some more goalie and hit mocaps then it will be good.

Assuming the ship date is actually today, I should have my copy tomorrow. I have high hopes that they're going to keep this series on top.

I just picked mine up today. havent played it, but according to the new Game Informer magazine, NHL 2005 is slightly better than 2k5, but NFL 2k5 is slightly better than Madden 2005

I got my copy yesterday(Xbox). It's a defenite evolution from last years game. The graphics have improved a bit, over last years version. And, the gameplay has had some nice tweaks added into it as well. I'm still trying to get used to using the right analog stick, for hitting/slashing. But it feels GREAT, when you haul off and slash the holy hell out of an opposing player, while he's trying to set up a goal. Almost makes the trip to the sin bin worth it.

Oh, one other thing....I'll give them credit for trying to improve the fighting, but it's still ass.

I won't try and compare it to EA's hockey game yet, since I haven't tried that one at this point.

My girlfriend bought me the PS2 version last weekend. I'm terrible at it, but it's a lot of fun. I just need to take the time to learn how to use the controls to my advantage instead of just button mashing and slashing the fuck outta people with the 'total stick control'.

Does the character control suck like in NFL 2k5? I have that one and I HATE the control for it. It really really sucks and people move without you moving them(your person) and that pisses me off since I can never get any plays done right. So basically I wasted 20 bucks for the damn thing. But I saw that Nba 2k5 is 15 bucks at Best Buy and the NHL one is like 20 I think so I want to know from anyone that has them if the control is better. Like will your person move all on his own like in NFL 2k5? If so then screw all the damn sports games I'll still with my RPG, platformer, and action/adventure games.

You can't compare a hockey game to an NFL game because in the NHL, they skate on ice, so obviously the control is going to be a bit different.

What I mean is in NFL 2k5 if your pick your guy for say defense and then the comp hicks the ball if you don't touch the controls at all then your guy will move around automatically. Thats annoys me since he does that and I can barely control them. Thats what I'm asking about in this game since its made by the same company. Will your picked player move around on his onw like in NFL 2k5? Or will he sit there if you don't touch anything?

It's called AI every sports game has it. I would be surprised if a game sits back and actually watches you screw up a play, the AI is going to run the play if you dont.

In NHL 2K5 there is non stop action, except for the occasional face off, so players are always moving. In NHL players will sit there if you do nothing, but it's not recommended.

Not always I think if NFL Quarterback Club 98 if on defense you choose not to move the player you picked he would sit there. Thats not the case in NFL 2k5 which makes it annoying. I can't get anything down in that game so I have just about given up on it. And like in the Wayne Gretzky hockey games for the N64 if you didn't move then your guy sat there. Thats what I want so I have complete control over my character.

You already have complete control over your character. I think the game is either trying to motivate you or insult you by playing the play for you.
