Comes out tommorow (8/30). Anyone gonna buy it? I didn't see it in theaters, but my dad says he's gonna buy it. He found a good deal at Bestbuy.com for $15(DVD).

I'll buy, maybe just not immediately. I didn't see it in the theaters because I rarely go out to the movies.

I'm definitely buying it. I'm not overly religious or anything, I just thought it was such an amazing movie. I did get a little somethin' in my eye watching it, which doesn't happen to me in movies ever. The musical score should win the Oscar this year, it's incredible. All around amazing film.

I agree.. I saw this in the theaters and it was pretty amazing(tons of crying going on)... I just don't think a 20inch TV will do it justice... but if you havn't seen it you should.

For me it was one of those movies you see once. A powerful film, but too emotionally heavy that it detters me from seeing it again.
I like to enjoy movies and have fun, this movie was excellent, but defiently not fun.

I'll pass.
Don't care much for the story. We all know what happens in the end, and I got tired of hearing it in sunday school.

Hell fucking no! I'm Jewish. You know all of this was for profit, because they knew it will make a lot of money.

I have to agree with you and I am not Jewish but I don't want to see it.

I read the book, and went to Catholic school. I don't feel the urge to see any of it.

That's fine that you're Jewish, but don't go passing judgement on someone when you don't know the facts. Gibson risked over 30 million of his own money and there's no way of telling whether it would have made a profit. I'm not saying that I agree with his keeping all of the profits (He might of given to charity, I have no idea...) but I'd rather see someone risk money trying to spread what they believe in rather than ANOTHER Lethal Weapon..

I hear its really bloody. Thats the only reason I want to see it to be honest. I already know the whole story, and I am an athiest anyways.

If they knew it would make money then why did every major studio in Hollywood pass it up? Because they felt no one in their right mind would want to see a 2 hour Jesus snuff film in Aramaic. They were horribly wrong. The Passion is the most profitable film of all time, and because Mel Gibson had to do it alone he now holds the record for the most money an individual has ever made off a single film. Roughly $300 million right into his bank account... before taxes of course.

How's it end? lol
I didn't see it in the theatres, all the hype that came to it kinda gave it that Fahrenheit 9/11 feel to it, to me at least. Like that movie I might see it but I doubt I'll buy it for myself.
On a side note one thing I hated about that film was all the super religious parents that took their 9 year olds to see it. The same people who prolly go ape about movie violence take their young kids to see it. Then Hollywood attacks it for being so violent. I just remember laughing when the news stories like that were coming out. The worlds gone nuts.

I loved the film, but I doubt I'll buy it. I don't usually purchase DVDs. As for Oscars, Gibson should at least get a Best Director nod, and the flick should win for Best Cinematography. It looked gorgeous.
I'm also of the opinion that you should be able to enjoy a movie if it's a good movie, regardless of religious affiliations.

If he gave any to charity we would have heard about it. The movie has made over like 400 million in this country alone I believe, let along around the world, so i he gave any of it away then there would be SOMETHING about it on the news, but there hasn't been. If he really was a Catholic though like he claims to be then he should be giving it ALL away, not keeping it for himself. Now I like Gibson and the movies he makes/directs, and stars in like BraveHeart and The Patriot, but on this hes just being greedy. I mean for a guy who acts as religious as he does then he should give all that money away, not even mentioning its something Jesus taught to begin with.
As for me I might give it a rental a year from now or so. My local library lets you rent DVDs for a dollar for 7 days, but I'm sure it will never be in for the next year. So in a year or more when its in I'll spend the buck to see what all the hypes about. Heh I bet I won't cry though, one because I just don't cry at things, two I'm not a Christian, and three I think the violence scene was probably a little over done. I mean its not like no one else in history has ever been tortured as much as he was, I'm not making light of it at all, but hes not alone so it doesn't make him any more special then the others such as Holacaust victims.

If I still had Netflix I'd rent it out of curiosity.

I'm not sure why, but everybody was crying by the end of that movie, it didn't phase me in the least.

To be honest, it got me pretty emotional, because during the crucification scene, it had me thinking a lot.

I thought that the best part of the movie was when that crow flew down and started to peck that guy hanging next to Jesus in the face. I was laughing so hard!
