Hated book 6. Thought book 5 was meh. Book 7 could be really good but it might really suck. I've almost writen it off. JKR is a woman and because of that I have no faith for the end of the series. I might be wrong though. I hope I am.

There's LOTS of loose ends that need to be tied in this book, so I expect nothing less than 700 pages.
and I expect the movie for this one to be no less then 5 hours long

every book has been bigger, wasn't the last one 736 or something.
maybe they'll just print this one with really really small type.

Actually book 6 was considerably smaller than book 5, by a hundred or so pages iirc

I never cared about HP book length; hell, I've been buying the audiotapes since Chamber of Secrets (the guy who reads them owns my soul).

I can't wait. Just a few more weeks, I wonder if Harry gets killed?
I think that would be pretty awesome for a book end.

spoilers ahead. go on, look. you know you want to.
"Voldemort strikes Harry with the killing curse from the Elder Wand and it rebounds and kills Voldemort. 19 years after, Harry and Ginny Weasley are married and have three children named James, Albus Severus, and Lily. Ron and Hermione are also married and have two children named Rose and Hugo. It is revealed that Neville Longbottom has become the Herbology Professor at Hogwarts."
that ending sucked ass.

My little review. Spoiler free if you've read the Table of Contents atleast.
The last book really shows how very bad JKR is at writing. Y'know how normally she has no sense of space and time during alot of action? Yeah, well, there's a 150 page, about, long seige of Hogwarts. And she completly fails. It's sooo hard to keep up with what's gonig on, not because that's the feel she's going for, but she fails at describing it.
My favoritve part about the Harry Potter series has been the classroom interaction. The fact that these are kids and they're learning and slowly building upon what they know has been wonderful for me. In this one that whole element is completly missing, because they're going to Hogwart, as stated in the end of the 6th book.
Aslo the plot takes some really heafty jumps. Harry's logic is so far out there that it's laughable, but then, somehow, he's 100% correct.
I was really hoping Ron would actually do somethnig in this book, because all the other ones he just stands around and say" Blimey!" all the time, he's the token black guy of the Harry Potter Universe, even though that's really Dean Thomas.
The ability of the charecters to apparate is a new edition, but really JKR just uses this as a crutch. Whenever the charecters are in trouble, *POOF*, they're gon. No need for conflict resolutuion now, we'll put it off to later.
The ending, for me atleast, was a big WTF?!?! it's such a huge cop out it's rediculous. It's like adding zombies in the last one, somethnig completly out of left-feild that only makes a sliver of sense.
She's built up a series for over a decade, and there's so little resolution. There's only a little bit of finality for a handfull of charecters. It really leaves you wanting to know what happens to all the auxilary charecters that we love, but that's never gonig to happen.
The book lacks on a whole, everythnig that that should be there is there, but there's not enough of it to make it a proper ending. It could've been so much more, but it doesn't deliver. The series ends on a poor note. I predict that this will be one of people's leaset favorite in the series.
It's just not good.
Bitch lied. "Scar" wasn't the last word.

Why, because they're supposedly "for children"?

Started reading it Saturday and finished it yesterday. Really good book I thought.
One thing I hated tho was that both Tonks and Lupin got killed right after they had their baby... and the ending could have been more informative, I wanna know what happen to more of the people then the 5 or 6 people they talked about.
Until last week I wasn't a Harry Potter fan, then a friend of mine told me to give it a chance and I watched all 5 movies in like 3 days, lol, and need to find out what happened next so read the last 2 books in the past few days or so. I think I'm gonna go back and read the first 5 books soon and see how those are compared to the movies and how much they left out.

The first 2 books are pretty much the same as the movies. Azkaban had some interesting back story you don't get in the movie. The rest of the books have twice as much story as the movies.

I liked it a lot. Sure there may have been a few loose ends and I definitely felt the jump in logic as I read but all in all it was a fitting end to a great series. I'd love to see some Auror stories.

Ya, that would be nice to see. JK wouldn't have to do them either if she didn't want to, tho, it might be better if she did.

I finished this book about two-three weeks ago. I like it a lot, but I felt a little disappointed by the good vs evil final showdown. :(
It's surprising she just blurted it out infront of many fans. Came as a surprise to me, I wonder if they would mention it in one of the last movies.
J.K. Rowling outs Hogwarts character (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071020/ap_on_en_ot/books_harry_potter)
NEW YORK - Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.
After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members.
She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."
"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."
Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."
"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction."
Potter readers on fan sites and elsewhere on the Internet have speculated on the sexuality of Dumbledore, noting that he has no close relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past. And explicit scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction.
Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character.
Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."
Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.
Silly women.. always making mortal enemies secret gay lovers..
