So I was going through some of my stuff at my parents' house and found some old VHS-C tapes of old E3's from 1998 onward. Some of the gems I've found on these so far are:

Light Pyro in Konami's booth (promoting Metal Gear Solid...the first one.)
People playing Ocarina of Time for the first time
Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya playing Knockout Kings against each other in EA's booth
The early All Games Network booth showing Jeremy Allford and Jim Downs (just a passing shot from far away, there might be more on later tapes. - I've only gone through the first tape in '98)
Sting and Bret Hart playing WCW Mayhem in EA's booth which erupted into a real wrestling match (front row ringside to boot!)
Probably never-before seen Squaresoft presentation from 2000 with a mechanical floating head as narrator, showing off games like Parasite Eve II and Vagrant Story and the PlayOnline service (however the tape cut off during the PlayOnline video) - you weren't allowed to film this BTW, I was sneaky.
The first ever glimpse of the PS2 in 1999 in a pyramid, showing the Final Fantasy face mapping demo and media types playing an early build of GT3. (Side note: on the tapes I actually write this as "PSX2".)

That's just some of the stuff - I've literally only gone through one tape in 1998 and one tape in 2000 in terms of viewing, the rest of the stuff is gleaned off of what I wrote on the labels. I hope to convert these to YouTube videos soon...I have tapes from every E3 from 1998 to 2006, mostly covering the ambience of the show rather than actual gameplay. (Although I would shoot tons of gameplay of games I was interested in, I think I have a ton of stuff of Simsville and the Zelda treasure hunt game that never made it to the US and was only a minigame in the Japanese version of Four Swords Adventures.) I think looking back at some of this will be interesting, knowing what we now know as to what came out and what didn't come out.
