Hey all,
Sorry it took me so long to make this post - I finally got around to reading some of the controversy that hit last month bout how we left AGI, and I just wanted to take a second to talk about that and what's next for us

As to the circumstances behind our leaving: I've said this a few places, but GamerAndy Live! left AGI because the live show was taking too much time and energy. All the major players within the show were having life-changing events happening, and there just wern't enough hours in the day to make the show decent. For a time we tried to commercialize GamerAndy.com and maybe make a living off it, but that quickly fell through and it left me personally scrambling to find a job. I ended up going to work at the family business, which I'd been avoiding, and actually I'm happier now than I can remember being in a long time. Around the time we left, I had a run-in with Scot on a personal matter that left both of us feeling a bit off, but our deciding to entirely unrelated to that. I have no ill will towards Scot though his style of radio is something I find a little abrasive. Those without very thick skin for on-air razzing should be warned before joining their dark alliance :)

As to the "live show": I approached Allgames at GDC '06 and met with them for the first time on day 2 with the idea of doing our show LIVE over their network. I worked closely with Bobby B (who is a god among men, let me say) and they helped us make it happen. The two hour "time limit" was a silly thing, before going live, GAL was usually 45 min-1:30 - When we went live things got a little crazy because we added additional hosts, etc. Bottom line was that whoever said we got too ambitious was correct. With all the other things going on in our lives, the show pretty much collapsed in on itself.

As to the future of GamerAndy Live!: My website, GamerAndy.com has had hosting problems for almost half a year now, and I'm finally calling it quits on that side of things. I love our community, and I've made a TON of friends off that whole project but honestly I feel like we could benefit, and frankly have fun, if all our attention was focused on the show. With that in mind, I've started shopping GamerAndy Live! around to several decently sized blogs/gaming sites and have been getting very positive responses. I'm looking to attach GamerAndy Live! as the official podcast of one of those sites, with all their support, etc. When that happens, we plan on bringing the show back to Allgames - either in a 1st run pre-recorded form, or in a Live form. I spoke with Bobby B at legnth about that last week at GDC

I'm told there is a saturday slot available :)

So thats it - if you have any questions, I'll be around to answer them. Any comments are welcome as well.

I really enjoyed the GamerAndy show, and I know a lot of others here did too. Best of luck getting the "loose ends" tied up, and when you come back around, I'll be first in line to listen.

Thanks for clearing it up. Although I'm confused about the "abrasive" comment. The first few times we talked on the air it was you that raked Gamer Steve over the coals on the air telling us you just didn't like his face. I had never even heard of him. Not abrasive? /me shrugs

Anyhow, glad to hear things are ok.

Scot abrasive? Uhm, the fact that he calls out chatters, fellow podcasters, employees, etc - on the air is just part of the show and his on air personality. I firmly believe that what we get on AGI is a deep level of commitment to gaming, the gaming community and people in general. What some people might see as abrasive - even abusive - might actually be seen as something quite different. Scot's on air style might be a little bulldoggish, a little aggressive, somewhat unrelenting - but underneath all of this surface sizzle is a guy who cares about giving a great show and site, beng very honest and open, who cares about the people he works with, and who cares about the whole community in general.

Don't mistake passion for abrasiveness.

Oh that Scot is such a jerk...

Orrrrrr....he's one of those guys who actually gets that you have to turn it up a notch or two sometimes for the sake of making radio entertaining.

Yep...definitely one of those two. :p

Andy, did you ask Gaming Steve to wear a bag over his head when you were a guest on his podcast? How could you possibly stand looking at his face for such a long time?

I've changed my tune on Gaming Steve ;) turns out he's a pretty nice guy. And his face seems to have improved since I last saw him

Glad to still be able to hear the show...although it takes a bit of searching now. Still have to thank Gamer Andy for showing me Allgames though. And yes, Saturday is wide-freaking-open when it comes to content.
