I want to apologize for the lateness of this episode getting up - real life got in the way. Sorry!
Here's the show notes for Episode 89 from April 1st, 2007:
This episode rounds out our GDC coverage with an interview with Jonathan Mak of Queasy Games about one of IGF’s big winners Everyday Shooter (http://www.queasygames.com/).
Last week, we talked a lot about the PS3 launch in the PAL territories being really terrible, but then the sales figures came in (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6499841.stm). Did they agree with us?
Microsoft announced the Xbox 360 Elite (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/28/the-xbox-360-elite-is-official-hdmi-and-120gb-for-479/), which Sony applauded and said it legitimized the PS3’s strategy (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/27/sony-welcomes-xbox-360-to-elite-hd-experience/).
However, beware if you’re trying to use the transfer cable for the new 120GB HDD - there ARE some limitations (http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/03/microsoft_data_.html)!
Is Nintendo withholding stock of the Wii’s (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5050&Ite mid=2)? Gamestop thinks so, but Nintendo claims they aren’t.
Plus, we take some calls about Puzzle Quest and assumptions of the Halo 3 beta beginning on April 2nd. (Hint: it didn’t.)
We also discuss the Grand Theft Auto IV trailer (http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/).
