espn is getting to the equivalent, if not better than the madden franchise right now with the new espn 2k5 comin out. I think EA needs to do something really big next year or it could be the end of this franchise's reign of the football games.

no, i don't think so, because 80 percent of the madden fans out there will buy the game no matter what. unfortunately, i usually fall into that category. except when i played nfl 2k and nfl 2k1 over madden those years. the only thing stopping me this year from totally supporting espn is i still think madden has a better franchise, especially with the owner mode. not to mention, everyone is going to be madden online and not espn. being only 20 bones though, i'm still going to pick it up and probably play it until madden comes out.

That's because that 80% are ignorant mainstream gamers. They don't like anything that's different. "Waaaa it's not Madden."

What if Madden leaves EA for the ESPN franchise? My prediction is the world will implode.

Nothing will happen. You got the guys at Gamestop informing the people of the change and people know the EA Sports brand.

is tiburon afraid to change the game? they add things that make it more realistic but im thinking they need to change the gameplay engine entirely.

it would be a dream come true. the sooner that slobbertard is off the game, the sooner there's actually gonna be good commentary on the game.

They can keep Madden and Michaels and still have good commentary. The best suggested setup I've heard is where they sign like three no-name announcers similar to the guys that ESPN has, and keep them in the studio for commentary. Madden and Michaels can't be kept in the studio all that long since their big name announcers. You would then leave MNF games to Madden and Michaels only as well as the Super Bowl.

That's exactly what I've been saying for years. I'd rather have some no-namers doing a lot of good diverse commentary than Madden's dribble. You hear the same stuff over and over after 3 games.

yeah, the two that do the nfl/espn 2k games are really good. well, nfl 2k1 was the last one i played, and i was cracking up at some of the one liners. not too mention it was a good idea to give them a background, like the color man (what was his name? peter o'keefe?) being a former player. that way he could include some stories in with the commentary.

ESPN has been right there with Madden for two years now, people either just don't know or just don't care cause they are fanboys. ESPN has matched up in features and reviews, and this year ESPN is going to beat Madden as a game; it's just a shame that all people are going to care about is the sales figures. If EA is in trouble come next year (which I highly doubt), they will pull their real strengths together to make an outstanding game that will keep their FF like fanboys to buy their game.
