The Sox are gonna get the wild card, they have to!
I know I'm not the only one disappointed about this season :(
Being around .500 = winning the pennant for a Rays fan. I'm pretty happy with the season thus far, barring a collapse.

Even with the injuries this year, they're still playing below their ability. If you go by the Pythagorean standings - http://baseballprospectus.com/statistics/standings.html, the Sox should be in first place, at 56-29. That means they're playing at -8 of their potential. That also means they should get better as the season progresses.
The Yankees, on the other hand, are playing at +3. So, they should cool down a bit, and hopefully the Sox should be able to catch up. Of course, that's only if you put any stock in the Pythagorean W/L.

For some reason this always seems to happen. They start out great and then just seem to break apart as we get closer to the All-Star Game. Then afterwards they do better, then a little bit of a slump again, and then a mad dash for 1st place and if not the wild card at the end of the season. I just hope they at least get the wild card. I think it would be so sweet if the Yankees didn't even make the playoffs, but I know thats not going to happen. The Sox are diong pretty well against the Yanks this season though. I think they have won just as many as they have lost, they were winning that series but the last time they played each other the Sox didn't do so well. Oh well they'll make it somehow someway. :D
Im tired of wildcard celebrations. They play enough games head to head to keep a race of the division alive. A sweep of the yanks and a couple of games here and there, ya never know.

DIE! Heh no way the Sox will definatly get the wild card if they don't get the division. But like Scot said its kind of annoying having to celebrate getting thw wild card. Damn the Yankees, and damn Fat Bastard! AKA George Stienbrener.

The Sox are still in it, I would love to see them destroy the Yankees. They also need to put up some competition for Randy, they cannot be beat out by the Yankees again for a future hall of famer. Although I think it is pretty much up to Johnson where he goes, they still need to make Boston look appealing.

Well the thing is we would have A-Rod if it wasn't for the damn player's union. Basically their just greedy I think since if A-Rod took a paycut they would get less money from him from dues, unless they only pay one standard fee? I mean the deal was basically done, like literally it was done and all that was left for the player's union to say ok and A-Rod was ours. But of course since A-Rod was WILLING to take a pay cut to some here the pu said no. Its not fair that the Yankees get to buy up everyone. This is why baseball needs a salary cap. I mean the Red Sox have the second highest payroll in baseball yet even so the Yankees beat them by like over 50 million a season. Thats more then some teams have to begin with!
