Bad Religion is my fav political band. RATM and LOG are good. System Of A Down is really good political band , I know there songs dont sound political but listen to em closer they are very political.

Political bands suck. I'm one of the few people you'll ever meet who listens to music for the music, not necessarily the lyrics and meanings. Suffice it to say, generic rock songs rule.

Political Bands don't suck, but bands shouldn't limit themselves to one type of music.
As for my favs, they are: Rage Against the Machine, NOFX, Bad Religion, and the best: Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I'd suggest Bikini Kill and Le Tigre off the top of my head. Le Tigre's a little more recent though.
Sleater-Kinney's a good choice if you want a politically aware band that doesn't make it the entire focus of their music.

Anti Flag is really good.
Bad Religion and Anti-Flag (and NOFX) are easily the best (political) bands I've ever heard.
Pennywise (who I've only had a taste of and don't know how political they are) are growing on me.

Bad Religion
THE DEAD KENNEDYS (hello people!)
Anti-Flag (their older shit)
Pennywise (their older shit)
AUS ROTTEN (411: crust punk with a lot to say politically speaking)
LEFTOVER CRACK / CHOKING VICTIM / INDK / MORNING GLORY (four separate bands, all sharing the same members)
Capitalized bands are ones which I highly recommend.
