if we were smart we would've just apprehended him and ended all of our troubles with him on the spot.
of course, this is the same country that lets illegal immigrants protest under the rights of citizens.
You forgot the part where he said there's no homosexuals in Iran.
if we were smart we would've just apprehended him and ended all of our troubles with him on the spot.
You mean if we wanted to create a huge international incident and a precedent for our leaders getting apprehended overseas. This Columbia University appearance was a complete win in that now there's no question what a retard this guy is since he was unable to hide behind his controlled press.

There's nothing in the Bill of Rights that says that the 1st Amendment only applies to full blown U.S. Citizens. In fact the whole concept of "U.S. Citizen" was not even introduced until the 14th Amendment.

He also called Homosexuality a "phenomenon", and I think he linked them with drug users and prostitutes.

Despite the comment on homosexuality I think has some real points that people are unfortunately not seeing. I honestly know little about the realities in his nation, I only know what I hear, but from what he's said I think he is in no way unreasonable to the extent that many have concluded.

I couldn't stand the voice over they used. My co-worker had it on CNN at work today, but I had to change it. The mic she used must have been garbage as the levels were running hot and it was a tad fuzzy. Almost gave me a headache.

I'll link the the topic later but some teachers and students are pissed at the University President for giving Mahmoud a tongue lashing. They hate GW but they love a Jew hating, terrorist supporting, executing Dictator. This country is going to hell.

I don't understand why there is so much hate towards the Guy. He's very smart, he's obviously looking to create peace, He came to the U.S to talk to the people directly. He has never attacked another country.... Why all the hate??

Wow, I'm sorry token but what you just said is so very ignorant.
First off, He does not hate Jews. As He said there are many jews that live in Iran and as a matter of fact they have political representatives in the government.
Second, How does he support terrorism? Did he ever invade another country? Did he Ever Fly planes over a city and bomb the shit out of it? Is he Leading a war that has killed over 600,000 people since 2003? Exactly...
Third, I can't think of a country that doesn't execute Prisoners. Your buddy G.W. has so much blood on his hands from executions. He lead the way for executions in America. As a matter of fact I think that his executions was what made him famous when he was the governor of Texas.
So there you go.

1. What part of "I'll wipe Israel off the map" don't you understand? And those same Jews he's talking about are the "No Jews for Israel" party.
2. He supplies weapons to Hezbollah (a terrorist organization) to bomb Israel. Oh, and what about that shipment of Iranian made rockets to AQ and other foreign fights don't you understand? I'll go ahead and add the caches of Iranian made parts to build IEDs. AQ, foreign fighters, and other Muslim Extremists wouldn't have sophisticated weapons that are in their hands now if the Iranians did not give them. And it's happening in Afghanistan.
3. Give me a link. Give me one credible link that is not filled with "9/11 was planned Bush", "War for Oil", "Fuck Bush, that asshole", "N.O.W." that has condoned executions.
4. I'm sorry to break it to you. Most of the deaths in Iraq are civilian deaths. Caused by who? Suicide bombers.
5. What about those two gay Iranian teens that were hung?
Let me guess, this is going to be propaganda? Do yourself a favor and read about the Muslim Brotherhood.
Umm.. people do realize it's possible to have a distaste for all authoritarian, theocratic assholes no matter which nation they represent right?
Why does everything get polarized in the most absurd ways imaginable? To dislike one you have to love the other? Fuck that. They both suck ass. Whatever happened to having consistent principles that apply across the board? To me a few things are abundantly clear:
- Bush and Ahmadinejad are ironically a lot more similar than they are dissimilar, hence why they butt heads so much. Both are obnoxious, ignorant, conceited, stubborn, bigoted, etc.
- That does not necessarily mean they deserve to be tongue lashed, berated, or brazenly disrespected at public forums (particularly at a notable institution of learning), but if they are exposed for the utter disgusting fools they are on an international stage with their own candid responses to cutting questions, all the better.
- Arguing for extreme methods of regime change to remove either of them from power is counterproductive and pointless, and their power over things as well as the extent to which they represent their respective populaces is overrated to begin with.

1. Israel should be wiped off the map for Wiping Palestine and the Palestinian People off the map.
2. Hezb Allah is not a terrorist organization. They Live in southern Lebanon. They Have lived there ever since Israel INVADED Lebanon. I don't understand how you don't see what Israel does. the Israelis have been bombing Kidnapping and killing people from their neighboring countries for over 50 years.
Zionism is an international political movement that supports a homeland for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel.[1] Although its origins are earlier, the movement was formally established by an Austrian Journalist called Herzl, and the first Zionist congress staged in 1897. The international movement was eventually successful in establishing the State of Israel in 1948, as the world's first and only modern Jewish State. It continues primarily as support for the state and government of Israel and its continuing status as a homeland for the Jewish people.[2] Described as a "diaspora nationalism,"[3] its proponents regard it as a national liberation movement whose aim is the self-determination of the Jewish people.[4]
While Zionism is based in part upon religious tradition linking the Jewish people to the Land of Israel, where the concept of Jewish nationhood is thought to have first evolved somewhere between 1200 BCE and the late Second Temple era,[5][6] the modern movement was mainly secular, beginning largely as a response by European Jewry to rampant antisemitism across the continent.[7] At first one of several Jewish political movements offering alternative responses to the position of Jews in Europe, Zionism gradually gained more support, and the Holocaust accelerated Jewish immigration to the Land of Israel. 3. Capital punishment has been used in the U.S. state of Texas and its predecessor entities since 1819. Since that time 1153[1] people have been legally executed, by a variety of methods — hanging, firing squad, electrocution and lethal injection. Most executions were for murder, but other crimes such as piracy, cattle rustling, treason, desertion and rape have been subject to death sentences. Currently, only the crime of "capital murder" or a second conviction for the rape of someone under 14 is eligible for the death penalty. In order for a murder to be a "capital murder," it must meet one of the circumstances described below under the Capital Offenses section. The latest person to be executed in Texas was Johnny Ray Conner on August 22, 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_Texas)
4. That is so Ignorant to say that. The U.S. INVADED iraq with Air Strikes! Don't forget Abu-Gharib... I mean come on man...What you are saying doesn't even make sense.
5. I'm not saying that hanging them was right. But how about abu-ghraib. How about all those people who died in Iraq. How about the U.S. Legalizing Torture.
Token, I am Muslim. Half Palestinian and Half Syrian. I've lived in the Middle east for over 6 years. I've lived in Palestine, Israel, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. I know how the people over there think and I see how the people think over here. A lot of people in the U.S. are VERY ignorant to what's happening in the middle-east. And it's not really their fault because they are fed this propaganda through their media Every Single Day.

1. Israel controlled half of the middle east before being kicked out. The UN established the state of Israel in 1948. The Israeli goverment has given alot of territory to the "Palestinians" after constant attack. Zionist movement? You sound like Mahmoud himself. Are you going to tell me the Holocaust was fake?
2. Yeah, and they don't brain wash children telling them they will be graced by God for blowing themselves up.
3. Ah, considering our country was still growing, and the law really never held up back then, but it does now.
4. Pin pointing military targets, and bombing Saddam's palaces. Oh, and that pile of naked people wasn't all bad considering Saddam had mass graves there.
5. Define torture?
Yep, we are all a bunch of blind monkeys, except for you.
Gay people are a phenomenon that doesn't exist in Iran.
