Bioshock...Game of the Year [Archive]

You need more descriptive posts :P (I'm assuming this is regarding Spike's shitty awards show).

I think it's deserved. I would put The Orange Box ahead of it, but whatever.

What I don't agree with is BioShock winning Best Soundtrack. Can generic-ambience-with-an-original-score-thrown-in-every-few-hours be considered a worthy soundtrack?

Bioshock didn't really do one thing better then anyone else. Hell Halo and CoD are better shooters.

However with the whole package I do believe that Bioshock is GOTY.

They had it in the GOTY category over at Spike's website. I spent two hours watching this shit show. I hope the Afro Samurai game kicks ass.

Mass Effect was an epic step in the right direct when it comes to new games. I feel it really should have got GoTY.

You really weren't paying attention then, were you? About twice per level (that I've played so far, haven't beaten it) there are songs from the era that are played either in the background or foreground to illicit a mood, and it is BEAUTIFUL.

^exactly beck. The music made you feel like you were in that time period. I loved Bioshock's music and it definitely helped it win Goty.

Isn't the BioShock soundtrack just three Moby remixes (I haven't even bothered listening to it...).

and yes, ME has a great soundtrack. Actually I'm kind of ticked off that they didn't put in all of the music into OST. The combat music where you have to go on foot on the planet Liara is on is epic win. But sadly that's not in the OST...

I just finished that on my second playthrough last night, that sucks its not on the OST :<

and the BioShock soundtrack is fucking incredible, listen to Cohen's Masterpiece and Empty Houses, you'll see what I mean.

Call of Duty 4 is my GOTY. I have no problem with BioShock winning, though. It's a good game.

At least Halo 3 didn't win everything like you'd expect.

The Orange Box shouldn't have even been nominated for anything, in my opinion. How are you gonna compare 5 games to 1? Maybe Portal by itself deserved to be nominated, but that's it.

I understand why Bioshock would win a GOTY award. It's a great game and I personally love it! But my GOTY would be Mass Effect, though I am someone who absolutely loves Bioware and the kind of games they develop and I read the prequel book (First book of Fiction read since like 8th grade lol) ...so the technical issues don't really matter to me.

in my opinion, game of the year means that it should have done something new. halo 3 and call of duty 4, while introduction new styles, didnt really do anything that we havent seen yet, but both still awsome. bioshock i think gave us something new and fresh. it combined the action with the puzzles. almost in a god of war kind of way. i think bioshock's game of the year is well deserved. also, when i almost screamed like a 4 year old girl the first time i had to fight a big daddy, that's what sold me on bioshock as game of the year
