Vista. It made me go and buy a Mac. Also damn near destroyed the disk trying to get it out of the case for a work upgrade...don't ask what happened to the case :-|

Vista. It made me go and buy a Mac.

Wow. Just, wow.

XP FTW anyway, FUCK Macs.

I'd say the Halo 3 metal box. It doesn't even fit in regular dvd shelves.

Red rings that struck terror into thousands upon thousands of gamers are worse than any of the others. Vista is a close second, but SP1 coming should help the perception there, but personally I've had my share of Vista issues that are annoying. Unfortunately, all the blame can't be aimed at MSFT for 3rd party programs not working right. Those are the breaks when you have to support every freaking hardware configuration under the sun.

Vista might cause more damage overall in the long run, but the damage rendered by RROD is assuredly more acutely felt.

Finally caving in and installing Vista on a new hard drive recently, it's actually not that bad, but then it's had a year to mature since release. It's just not that significant or necessary of an upgrade either. Most of the problems are definitely 3rd party induced (or OEMs including the OS with computers that can barely run the damn thing), though there's the typical odd MS decision here and there. I think the bashing is way overrated compared to something completely useless like Windows ME, but it being Microsoft they've earned every bit of it I suppose. Anyways I like Linux and Macs too and I still don't see what's so singularly horrible about Vista. In a perfect world I'd be running something like Ubuntu full time, however.

RROD is just an unmitigated colossal hardware QA failure by comparison.

You don't realize how much you enjoy your 360 until you don't have it for a month.

rrod because you cant easily fix it(without risk of burning your house down) and the fact that the vista can be patched and halo can be returned quickly.

I don't own a 360 but I've heard soo many rants about these 3 red rings that's it's part of the reason I don't own an Xbox360.

It's not listed in the poll, but I vote the Points system.

Microsoft needs get off their lazy asses and take a second look at this stupidly-unfair pricing scheme they have forced upon Canada and Europe. Heck, Canadians (and maybe Europe) already have to pay nearly double on Video Marketplace content alone, and that's not including the problem with currency conversion. Seriously:

Not voting RRoD since I didn't get it yet. Poor Scot. :D

Voted Vista. Most disappointing upgrade from MS yet with few compelling reasons to actually use it. "But I won't have sharper shadows with DX10!" I won't enjoy them, either, if it lags the gameplay. The laundry list of cut features made me sad. It's pretty, I'll give it that, but I'm sticking with XP until they rollout their next OS in five or so years unless I'm forced to change.

And you can return an X360 on MS's dime and get back to playing in a few weeks without having to answer stupid questions like "Are you sure you want to pack this in a cardboard box?".

Vista: I was buying a new PC right before Vista came out and felt a little ripped off when I got XP on my PC, then I tried Vista and heard about all the problem and I am so glad that I have XP now.

When I get the RRD I will change my vote.

Vista.

RRoD might make you miss your 360 for a month, vista is going to make us miss XP so much more for the next 5-6 years.

I'm shocked that the DRM issue isn't up there next to the Red Rings of Death, seeing as they kind of go hand in hand.

If you buy content (e.g. XBL Arcade games) on a system that dies, and then receive a refurbished one, you cannot play that purchased content without using the profile that made the purchases, and you have to be connected to the Internet. That might be fine for people who only have one account, but for a family guy like me, we have three different profiles for the various members of the family.

Now that I'm seeming to be experiencing a second-go with the Red Rings again, the fact that I'm going to have to be on the phone with Xbox Support to try and get all of my games playable on the new system is going to be a major pain in the ass. Almost moreso than the time it'll take to have the system repaired.

I can buy a PC and avoid Vista. You get a 360, chances are you're getting the red rings.

I voted RRoD, even though I never had the RRoD, but I had 4 systems die, I'll classify those in that category.
