Went with Manhunt 2. After the controversy, forced changes, and one leaked torrent, it came out and...it was much ado about nothing. The Genesis blood code controversy for Mortal Kombat was a lot more interesting.

I didn't vote manhunt 2 because I don't feel that the press it is getting for the most part is hype, It isn't about how good the game is, but how violent.

Halo 3, by far, is the most overhyped game of 2007. For months you couldn't turn on the tv without seeing a commercial for the game and I, like most of my friends, played through the campaign, played online a couple of matches and haven't picked it back up since. I think its a great game with a great story, but like tdb30 said,it really is just more of the same.

it is so hyped microsoft even paid a japanese website to publish Halo 3 as number 1 in japan for a week. which absurd because Halo 3 cannot become number 1 in japan due to the very small user install base. even if all japanese xbox 360 owners buy a copy of halo3, it will not reach the sales of pokemon ds and final fantasy crisis core on psp!

and almost everybody already has forgotten about it. just take a look at your friends list.
oh and everybody hates the 10 dollar 3 map pack, except for die hard halo fans though.

Assassin's Creed, since the Halo-3-is-overhyped thing has been beaten with a dead horse.

It's not a terrible game, but I just couldn't understand why people were foaming at the mouth for it, before it came out and afterwards. (I told several friends and co-workers just to rent it. They bought it instead...).

The thing I found most baffling about Assassin's Creed, was the lack of reinforcing the Assassin part of the title. If the life of an Assassin is to kill 30 guards in plain-view of the public, run stupid errands for newbies collecting flags, and getting into fist-fights with preachers, then no wonder their kind was doomed to being dissolved. They were probably bored into retirement or death.

I voted for Manhunt 2: You were hearing about this game for 6 months before it came out and it was all about how bloody and violent it was. Then all the news about how they had to tame it to get a M rating. The it comes out on October 31st and it was the BIGGEST diapointment.

Yes HALO 3 had Millions in the marketing... but at least you KNEW what you were getting... a HALO game.

Halo 3 definitely had the most hype, had all those ad's, video documentaries and even it's own Mountain Dew. Jeez.
I would've said Assassins Creed, but I don't think Ubisoft themselves actually hyped it up that much. It was more hyped up from people watching the gameplay demonstration, and thus having huge expectations, which in turn led to many people being disappointed.

Nothing in 07 got more hype then Halo3 and I mean nothing not even Harry Potter. Nothing got more hype that that game. George Bush and the war didn't get more coverage then that game. The "h" in Halo stands for "Hype."

Can't say Manhunt 2 because it didn't get to be released how it should be.
Can't say Assassin's Creed because it wasn't really hyped by T.V. at all. Everyone seemed to self hype it themselves and set unreasonably high standards for it.

Gotta go with Halo 3. As stated earlier about the 5 million people buying it blindly. Only to be demolished months later by a far more efficient FPS dubbed Call of Duty 4. Which still has people playing in large amounts on both PC and 360.
