Ok I was looking in the ads this week and either Circuit City or Best Buy had the ATI 9600XT for $140 after rebates. Do you think the 9600XT will get run HL2 really good or should I save for the X800?

maybe it's just me, but I tried the Doom 3 beta, and the game ran great. Same with the half life 2 beta.... All talk I say

If you can go for the x800, you will thank yourself later

I'm thinking of going with the ATI 9800 pro. Best Buy had it on sale last week for $179 after rebates. I just can't spend $400 on a card right now. Maybe early 2005 I'll save up enough money and splurge on the $500 X800 card :)

You will be fine with that, Valve didn't make HL2 so everyone has to go out and spend $400 on a new video card, they designed it to be very compattable. Sure you probably wont be able to put aa/af up all the way, but it will still look kick ass.

The "plays" best on Nvidia or ATI is all money. Oh my, 1 fps less, well i'll be damned. I actually will though :?

Now I'm leaning towards the x800 after seeing the Doom 3 video settings.
