Costco.com is offering it's members a Sceptre 46" 1080p Widescreen LCD HD Television for $999.99. (Non-members pay $50 more, so it's best to sign-up for a one-year Costco membership for $50... funny how that works.) Now i've never heard of Sceptre so it's probably best to do some research to see if this brand is any good... or if it can work with universal remotes. It features a native resolution of 1920x1080, 8,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 550 cd/m2 brightness, ATSC, NTSC, and QAM tuners, and HDMI, VGA, component, S-Video, and RCA video inputs.

Does this work with Universal remotes. My mother once gave me an LCD HDTV as a gift (really there was some ridiculous sale for $100) but it was a brand called TruTech. Now she told me that it was an HDTV turns out that it was just an LCD TV... no HD... so the store clerk must have gassed her head up. When she visits i feel bad cuz the TV is pure crap. The remote it came with doesn't work nor can you hook up a universal remote so to turn it on/off or change the volume i have to walk towards the TV. I have it in my home office so it's no biggy but I am looking to replace it... maybe with this Sceptre.

I say go with a plasma TV and not LCD. But, that is just my personal preference.
