Girls Got Game!

Hey everyone!

I am pleased to announce that the Girls Got Game! (http://girls.allgames.com) website has officially launched! Girls Got Game! is part of the All Games Network and is a core group of four girls whose #1 passion is video games!

On the site, you will be able to read articles and reviews, watch and listen to interviews, and check out pictures taken at some of the events we have attended like the E For All Expo and CES!

Jessica is currently at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco and will have a lot to report when she gets back!

The site is updated daily, so check back often.

Also, we would love for you to register (http://girls.allgames.com/blog/wp-login.php?action=register) so that you can get involved!

We are always looking for more guest bloggers - girls and guys alike! So if you are interested in contributing, please send a sample of your work and some things that you may be interested in writing about to girls@allgames.com.

Apart from the name of our group being "Girls Got Game", how is our site sexist? On top of the four GGG members, Jessica, Mandie, Jennifer, and myself, we currently have a few contributors - MALE and female.

All we are looking for is a little love in the gaming world that doesn't have to do with our breasts and other "girly" parts. We are gamers and we just want to share that passion with others. You won't necessarily get a female perspective on things but you will always get a gamers perspective.

Me personally - I'm just looking for a little diversity in gaming. Sometimes it gets a little boring just playing a white, male lead in every game you come across. I would just like the gaming world to acknowledge that a lot of women DO play games and we are not all playing Hexic and The Sims. I was quite thrilled that Halo 3 had the option to make your voice female; and games like Ghost Recon: Island Thunder allowed you to create a team of all females. It's those little things that go a long way.

I could go on forever, but we would really appreciate your feedback on why you think our site is sexist. Constructive criticism is the best - we take everyone's opinions into consideration because the site is for everyone - male and female, gamer and non-gamer.

Thanks! I kinda thought so too...but I thought I'd put our 2 cents out there in case anyone else thought so. :-)

BTW...we will be going to South By Southwest (SXSW) and we have posted all the panels that will be featured and we want to know from all of you, what are you interested in seeing? There will only be 3 of us going and there is A LOT of overlapping panels - BUT - we are going to try our hardest to see as much as we can to report back to everyone.

Just a thought of mines, but I think that one of the video game ladies on the front page should have been Alyx Vance (or some other well known VG gal) mainly because 3 of the characters used look kinda similar (the two right ones). I still gotta join up.

Actually, I agree with you. Funny thing is, originally, I had chosen 4 characters and Jessica pointed out to me that they were all very green (not the girls, but the dominating color). It wasn't intentional either. Now when I look at it, I see that (apart from Samus) the other 3 girls are very similar. Note taken, I'm too tired to do it now...but I'll change it in the next day or so!

I think that it would be awesome to get a Girls Got Game! Game night on Live. Honestly, I don't play a lot of games online but it's something that I really want to get more involved in. My gamer tag is GMRx2. Please add me. My husband and I share the gamer tag, but 90% of the time, it's me on the 360. :-)

At this time, only Jessica, Mandie, and I have 360's and only Jessica and I have Xbox Live Gold. I'll talk to her and see if we can organize a night here and there!

What kind of games does your daughter like to play? (I don't want to make any assumptions.) I think it's so awesome that she likes to game! :-)

It's a good start for your girlfriend too...I haven't played Super Paper Mario. I watched my husband play and it's looks pretty cool...I'm sure I'll play it someday. :-)
