And an even bigger one when they lost billions over the past few years because of making it. So theres MS' big FU. It cost them more to make the Xbox's than what they were selling it for. There is a book by the designer or co-designer of the Xbox that tells all about it.

Xbox was just to get a fanbase down, and make Xbox "Cool". So far they have done that, and now it's profit time for Xbox 2.

Actually no since I plan on getting one. Amazing how you can tell facts about something and people get all defensive. This has been widely known for years, at least to most people(apparently tinfoil hats DO come in handy), so add that up to about 15 million X-Boxs over 3 years and you get a huge number. Its at, or at least rumored to be, about 4 billion total from when they first thought it up until now. Thats not chump change at all, even to Bill Gates and MS. If it was then MS wouldn't have layed off dozens of workers and made about a billion dollars in cuts over the past year or two.

Seeing as your obviously one of those people that uses the ever so handy tinfoil hat to protect yourself, I'll fill you in on the facts: Nintendo does, and has always, made a profit on EVERY piece of hardware(and probably software) they have ever made, yes this even includes the Virtual Boy. They make a profit on the GBA and the GC, not even counting the game sales. Nintendo also has about 7 billion dollars saved up in the bank with NO debt, and they CONTINUE to make money every quarter/year. Only you could be that dense. But then again I was never expecting anything more from you.

I'm not a defensive fanboy at all. I would do that same thing since I already own 2(or 3 if you count the DC) of the big 3(or 4). Although technically I didn't buy them as I got the DC, GC, and PS2 all for Christmas and Birthday presents. As for the X-Box it never had a enough games that interested me until the past year. The problem there is I don't have a ton of money and with it being rumored X-Box 2 may or may not hae BC and come out next Christmas, I don't want to spend a 150 dollars for the system to come out in 1 year. I would rather wait a year and spend 300 for 2 so long as it has BC available.

Nintendo never made money on the virtual boy, there weren't many games released for it, and the price was slashed several times. Poor Gunpei Yokoi. Microsoft on the other hand loses money for every xbox sold, but they make money off of the plethora of games released for the console.
