Bah, put an asterik on it.

Sissler got his in 154 games, Ich had 8 more game opportunities.

That, and I don't think It touches the home run, rbi, or streak records.

Great accomplishment, but, in relativitity, meh.

That's a lot of little bleeders.

Hey, don't rain on my parade. Considering how bad the Mariners did this year we need any feel good story we can get.

Be that as it may he still did have 8 more games to do it in. I mean you know if he didn't have those extrea 8 games he wouldn't have beat the record. So to be fair there should be an asterik. Otherwise he did do a good job and should certainly be given praise/creidt for his accomplishment.

I think he could have done it without those 8 extra games. That is if Bob Melvin hadn't tried to make Ichiro a power hitter at the start of the season.

I never heard anyone say this stuff on the home run records. They had more games to get it done in also too, right?

Ruth hit 60 in 154 games. Maris hit his 61 in 162. Since Maris didn't break the record until after the 154th game, the commisioner ruled that his was not the official record, and it was put in the books with an asterisk. I think the ruling was overturned in '91 or something, and Maris was given the record.

The point is, it's a different record.
