Do you buy a system for it's games or the fact that it has a Pentium Processor inside of it? We are shopping for GAME CONSOLES here, folks. If we were looking for PC's, yes, specs are needed. We don't give a rat's ass if they have nuclear technology inside! But if they include a free Cracker Jacks toy, hey..
I don't know about you, but I didn't know I had to buy a Gamecube becuase of how good the graphics are on RE4. (Which so many people brag about these days)
Who cares? Honestly people, what happened to substance?
I don't walk into a video game store and look at the screens on the back and say "OMG, THESE GRAPHICS RULE THIS GAME MUST BE AWESOME!!". Hell no, we've seen games like that were their all glamour but nothing under the make-up.
Look when I buy games I buy them for the fun factor. I could careless if the graphics are Atari 2600, I'd still buy the game if its a blast to play.
Wake up people, before some of you mainstreamers kill the industry (Which most have damaged enough as it is)

thank you. This is exactly what is going on under the hood of Halo 2. Yeah, the game's pretty, but escencially its the same damn thing you played 3 years ago
yeah, someone might say i'm like this for Half-Life 2, but there's so much under the hood! There's the great physics engine, the AI is dead on, and the whole thing of how unlinear the game can be, my manipulating physics with the gravity gun and by using a crane to smash foes with a huge crate. Yeah, its a sequel, but there's so much ORIGINAL stuff in there, you can hardly tell.

There is some new things added to the Halo system, but it still is the same engine underneath.
Will it not be fun? No, I think it will be a hella good time, and I love Halo's multiplayer as it is.
But DarthEvilDude, couldnt' I turn that statement around and put it on HL2?
It looks like the same gameplay elements, with a new few things. I'm probably wrong, but more for example purposes.

Darth, Nice way bullshiting your way through that.
Halo 2 has many new additions to speak of as well, not to mention a rewritten script allowing up to eight times the games size of halo one.
Anyways Dualist, I see where your coming from, but I think you're preaching to the wrong crowd. :smt012

Here's the problem. You just brought up a point that most gamers WILL do.
Not to be offensive in any case, but most of gamers are biased towards their own games.
Heck I could deny your thoughts on Halo 2 being the same, becuase obviously I've been so excited and thrilled about it. And the same for you and HL2.
I could go on about how awesome Halo 2 and new it is, but I would likely ignore the truth of its sameness underneath.
I can't really explain it to what I want it to be...but hopefully you get where I'm going...

well, i dont think Halo 2 wont be fun, it doesnt have a gigantic fanbase like what Valve's got. At almost any time on Steam, there is 100,000 players online. Valve developed a game to keep a minimim of 100,000 on for FIVE YEARS. FIVE FLIPPIN YEARS. The thing that made it so great was the mods. With Halo 2, you cant make your own maps, or make your own modes, so your stuck with what Bungie wants in it. Hopefully, Bungie wont be greedy and make people pay 5 bucks for a map, just so they can grab a quick million bucks.

How can you judge how fun a game can be because of the userbase?
How many Xbox gamers have XBL? About 500,000+...and I'm wagering that most will be on Halo 2. Give or take.
But to use that kind of logic, what you just presented, against Halo 2's fun factor isn't really logical.

That's why everybody should buy Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and a Playstation 2 console......

The many plot twists in HL2 will make me poop so hard, I'll become the new goatse.

ah hell stop the fighting, they'll both be fun, but personally, Half-Life 2 will deliver to my tastes, not to say Halo 2 wont be a good game, but since i havent played either one, i really couldn't tell you. Halo 2 has the Live userbase, and Half-Life 2 has the mod community.

Of course, I know what standpoint your coming from. Your more into the mod community, which Halo 2 doesn't have (Not PC of course)

I think Halo 2 will pack a big punch. It looks awesome, but I honestly think Half-Life 2 will have more to offer, and I like it's story better. The LAN center near me has 4 Xboxes, and if they get Halo 2 the first day, I am going.

yeah, its gonna be freakin awesome, but there are still gonna be ALOT of haters out there, like people who think owning a console is joining a cult.

Yeah, Half-Life 2 will be one of the best PC games ever made (Half-life 1 already is!).
What LAN center?
I know Nov. 9th, the weekend of that week My Cousin will be lugging his Xbox over for sure so that we can pull an all-nighter playing Halo 2. ;D

No doubt, but there is a tremendous advantage to being a PC game.
Its pointless to argue, because both are one of the most popular games to there respective audience.
halo 2 will be hailed as one of the greatest console games, as was its predecessor, and hl2 will as well.
No point beating the dead horse.

Exactly what Ender just said, HL2 has a huge advantage over H2. Mods, custom stuff, etc.
And unlike DED, I like Halo's story better. But thats just my opinion.
