NBC said they wanted to keep Conan happy and so them and Leno came to the agreement that after his current contract now runs out the Conon takes over. Really some of you are pathetic. Yeah your right I fail at simple reading comprehension when you utterly failed at it even when I spelt it right out for you. NBC pretty much made the choice on Leno leaving, not himself. Why would he sign a new 5 year contract and then say oh now I want to retire instead. NBC wants to keep Conan happy since unless CBS, ABC, or NBC higher John Stewert for a late night show then Conan is the king of late night once Leno and Lettermen leave. Even already many people think that of him.
