I been playing it for a while and I must say...It defintly feels more like the older Metroid's -- In terms of gameplay, I mean. I always had to destroy something to find new items or path ways. However...It is still alot like the first Prime, in many ways. For example: The game still retains the same control scheme. Also it has small areas and makes you do alot of scanning. Overall, It's a big improvement over the first. The light and dark worlds are quite an original concept for the Metroid series and there is alot of new gameplay elements. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, So just rent or buy the game yourself -- Then decide for yourself, if you like it or not.
EDIT: I did play the multi player mode and it's better then I thought it would be. Over all I would say, it works quite well.

I must say, this is the most original Metroid I played so far. In fact, this is my favorite one. The story mode is terrific and there are plenty of new "things" to this game. It's truely an excellent game.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is an awesome game. The single player campaign is awesome so far. I love the storytelling of this game. The story isn't anything strange for the Metroid universe, but it is certainly unique as it offers very good plot twists. The gameplay feels the same as the first, which is awesome, and it also feels a little refined (even though it wouldn't really be needed). I worried about how the Dark World would play out. I was afraid that it might be too difficult, but after playing it, I am impressed on how it works, and am having a lot of fun on it. I am scanning the hell out of everything to make sure, I can get the specials in the end, whatever they are.
I like the multiplayer a lot, too. I've had a lot of fun (and sometimes even funny) times with my friends playing through 10 rounds or so. I don't see what is so bad about it. I wasn't expecting to look around the corridor, and find a warthog to my disposal.

It's not as great to me as the first Metroid Prime (after playing it for a long time) . However, it's still a great First Person Action/Adventure and is defintly worth checking out.

The only problem I really have with it, It just feels like they rushed it's release and kind of threw some things together, but none the less it's still really solid and is worthy of the "Metroid" title. As said before, it has alot of new and original features to this game.

Metroid Prime 2 is nice, but a lot of the maps just feel like chopped up and reassembled versions of the old ones from Prime the first. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as they mixed it up enough to feel new, but I still think they could've done more with them.
Other than that, though, I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

Almost anything beats Halo 2, but you really can't compare MP2 to Halo 2 since they are entirely different genres of games.

Halo 2> EverythingI as many people have dissent from that opinion. Anything does beat Halo 2, even Goldeneye: Rouge Agent or The URBZ. Anyways, I loved Metroid Prime 2, but I have to say it felt a little bit too much like the first game.

I agree. I personally felt Metroid Prime 2 was a bit disapointing...I think Retro Studio's was under pressure though to get the game out for the holiday season.

Kind of interesting.... these mixed responses
Personally I love the game; it's bigger, harder, the graphics are tweaked a bit, and the exploration element is better impelmented this time around.
The only things I have is that the first Prime just feels a little bit more original and they lowered the posible rate fire of the powerbeam :smt013 (I loved being able to juice out a constant stream of energy at my enemies) and go figure it's more needed this time around.
Other than that I love it so far :-D
Now if you don't mind, I've got to go Prime it up some more

Yea i got this game about 2 days ago and I cant put it down. It is a lot better than the original I think. It really never gets old now that there are 2 different worlds. Makes more playability and making sure your health is always up. Another reason is because I love the music in the game, when I first turned it on and listened to the music at the main menu, it put me in the mood. Right now im in the Torvus Bog and I just got the Grapple Beam.

oh that guy. The Boost Guardian was kind of hard at first. I just kept using super missles, light beams, dodged his boost ball attack, and drop bombs while he was that orange liquid. I had i think four health bars and i couldnt beat him but i remembered passing one up, so i grabbed that health expansion, went to face him, and beat him.

yea im not really quite sure where i got the other ones. The only thing i can think of is going through an online strategy guide and see if there is a list of health expansion locations. Here is one strategy guide but i havent used it yet so i dont no if it will help. Good luck.

Wow, I'm really digging this game :smt058
I love being able to EXPLORE again :!:
But man I always miss a lot of secrets my first time through ('sept for Fusion, heh too easy...) even though I take the nice, slow route, you know to look around at all the pretty colors mannn :smt025 But I'll get the rest within a month don't you worry (that's the way it was with the others... AND NO STRATEGY GUIDES FOR ME! but I guess it's ok if other people use them :smt064 )
But on the past note I only had two energy tanks fighting the boost ball boss; try that sometime; fuunnnnnnn! :smt067

if u get 100% in MP1 then it shows how Dark Samus was made. It was the suit that Samus had on in the end of MP1 but it fell in goo, evil goo. It came to life.

Exactly. The Phazon suit that was stolen from you by the Metroid Prime. Well that was how the Dark Samus was created, but did you know that Dark Samus was the Metroid Prime? At the very end it shows that same face, same eyes, same red veins, and same blue skin you once faced before. I could sware on anything that it was him. Now at the ending of MP 2 when you reach 100%, you see Aether and then you see a blue human form forming in space near Aether.

as to the 100% - i have 1500hp, 10 power bombs, 250 missiles, all 9 keys (+ the one u get just for visiting the sky temple) light suit, all 4 charge combos... yet i only have 99%... any ideas?
and that "goo, evil goo" is Metroid Prime's corpse mixed in with some phazon :D
