Has anyone gotten into these? I'm curious how much they expand upon the back-story or if they really are just re-telling the events in the game. Are they well written or just poor video game fan-fiction?

Some of the best Books ever written IMO. I love them, I like the Eric Nylund ones better than William's one.

Definetly must reads if you like the game, I love them.

Lol..Try explaining that shit to the teacher though. XD I was trying to tell her what the Flood was last year in English class.

I love the book series, but I think the games are horrible.

EDIT: Carps, The books are actually alot better then the games.

Apulo's been trying to convince me to pick up the trilogy because the backstory to Halo is apparently really well fleshed out and really awesome.

I'm resisting because FPS's suck ass. :>

Sadly, Bungie doesn't know how to present the Halo series properly (through their games, that is). The books are worth getting though.

i read the first and second one, and i have all three.

that was when i was addicted to the Xbox, and when i actually was going to get Halo 2.

the first one was great, but the second one was a boring re-telling of the game.

the third one probably kicks ass though.

Im curious what you mean, I'd love for you to elaborate, you feel Bungie are poor story tellers?

Yes, the books are alot more in depth then the games BY FAR! The games also have really poor ass maps and super bland enviroments.

Meh, I have seen them but I don't have any plans to read them. Theres also a ton of other movie/games based books in that part as well. Theres some books based off of the Resident Evil movies, as well as a Crimson Skies and Brute Force book. At least I think it was Brute Force. Actually I think it was something else but I just forget what at the moment. Either way I'll just stick with reading all the books in the whole Star Wars novel series, or selection I should say.

I've been debating picking them up. I'm not a fan of Halo, (either of them), never have been. I played through the first because I wanted to see if was really worth all the hype, and I wasn't too impressed. I happen to share the same opinion that Blackwolf does on FPS's though, that they suck.

Which is why I am iffy on wanting to pick them up. I want to see if the books add an actual storyline to a game that severely lacks one.
