Is this game ever coming out? You have been hyping it up for well over a year now and yet no one seems to know anything about it except you. Do you work for or are you related to someone in the company?

As for Double Fine I would say no their not the best developer ever.

As for Double Fine I would say no their not the best developer ever. The game will be in stores this holiday season and they do have a publisher, which will be announced soon. No I don't work for DF nor I am related to someone who does, but I do run the only Double Fine message board (http://s7.invisionfree.com/Double_Fine_Board/index.php) on the internet, I am a huge fan, there's around 30 other of us.

Description:
Psychonauts is a wildly surreal action-adventure game in which players use paranormal powers to plunge into the minds of bizarre characters. Players journey deep into crazy worlds of infinite possibility to thwart the secret plan of an evil madman and realise the ultimate dream of joining an elite force of psychic superheroes, the Psychonauts.
Players delve into people's minds as Raz, a powerful young cadet at psychic summer camp. While working on his merit badge in levitation, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. To foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the mind of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and inner demons. He does all this while continuing to earn psychic merit badges in subjects such as telekinesis, clairvoyance and fire-starting.

From The San Francisco Chronicle:
Psychonauts: If this psychic-powers-themed platformer for the Xbox is anywhere near as funny and creative as the Web site for the San Francisco- based company that's developing it (www.doublefine.com -- take a few minutes to read the "news" file), then it will kick butt like nothing we've ever seen. Or maybe they're just spending all their time on the Web site, in which case the planned Christmas release date will never be met. Either way, the public wins.

From An Inverview With Tim Schafer:
Our first game, Psychonauts, will be coming out on the XBOX in holiday '04. And it will be pretty much the greatest thing ever made by mammals. The crowning glory of humanity's long struggle on earth. The reason for everything, and the answer to all questions. Psychonauts.

Even though I want to get one anyway for other games I'm going to buy an X-Box now just for this game since you keep saying its going to be the best game ever. So when I get it if its not a really great game then I'm hunting you down and demanding my money back.

BTW, what else has Double Fine even developed? I mean if the only mesage forums for them on the entire internet is a fan site then I can't imagine their that great.

He is known for much more art house games, and Psychonauts will continue this.

Theres not even cows in MGS3 so thats not really a fair comparison.

Personally I think this game is just going to be a big let down though. No one has really ever heard of it except for you and its been in the making for what 3 years now at least? I mean when you show it at an E3 its supposed to come out sometime later that year, not 2 years later or more. Then again for some reason all the X-Box games seem to do that since most of the ones shown this year were also shown last year. Whats up with developers who make games for the Box?

Very true.

Can you eat Snakes and other creatures to get health, or become poisoned? Use many types of Camo, use enemies as sheilds, have a great story, and the main Character looks so bad ass and has a sweet ass name like "Naked Snake". Plus he has a mullet. That's what I thought. :D

It seems the excellent game Psychonauts will be shown during G-Phoria, and Majesco will be publishing the game according to GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/08/02/news_6103870.html).

I have my doubts. First the game was dumped by MS when they cleaned house after Ed Fries departure - basically getting rid of all the stuff that lacked promise or was way late and over budget.

Then it was just announced that the game was picked up by publisher Majesko - and while I don't know exact reasons, I would think if the game was even a simi-hot commodety that it would have been picked up by a bigger publisher (like EA who recently picked up publishing rights to the next "oddworld" title which MS also ditched).

Although he looks like a goon, Tim Schafer has some good concepts but perhaps this is one that is just not translating to the gameworld all that well. Guess we'll have to wait for the reviews.

Guess we'll have to wait for the reviews.Actually you got the post-Ed Fries MS thing wrong, they dumped everything that wouldn't be a guaranteed hit, and I'm certain Fries is disgusted with the decisions they made. EA won't publish a game unless it appears on a Sony console, and DF built the game from the ground up for the Xbox and would be extremely hard to port the game over to the PS2. Psychonauts is what I say it is, it just won't appeal to the mass-market(mass-market game company aka EA) so that is why the major publishers passed. If you don't think Psychonauts has promise, you have something wrong with you. I would like to think of Psychonauts being part of something called "art house gaming".

As for Double Fine I would say no their not the best developer ever.

Look, its his opinion if they are. Don't bash it. And another thing I believe I re-called Music Fan saying "Psychonauts is the greatest game ever" not "Double Fine is the greatest game developer".

BTW MF, I hear you compared this to Animal Crossing? So what exactly will have AC stuff?
