Does anyone know of a firewire or usb video capture deivce for Macs? My camera is an old VHS-C camcorder with an RCA output. I was thinking of getting a Mac and I couldn't find any capture devices on their site. Are off the shelf USB or Firewire devices for the PC compatible with macs? Thanks in advance for the help.

I've heard that products from Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/) are fairly good. As far as compatibilty, between PC and Mac supported devices. I'd say it depends on the software available from the device manufacturer. Firewire and USB are industry standard. I've hooked the same Toshiba digital camera to both Macs and PCs. The Mac, running OS X found it immediately. I had to install software onto the PC to use the camera. But I think that was more because of how Tohiba built/designed/programmed the camera software. I'd go to a reliable electronics store and see what they've got. Maybe hit a bookstore and check out the magazine sections for reviews in the video magaiznes.
