So, i was in the private beta, i didn't use it much. nothing much i wanted was on the network at that point.

then i saw on /. that 0.20 had come out, so i dl'ed it fast... without reading the comments on slashdot first, its worse than kazaa. i had to perform an e-exorcism on my PC. it pops up ads all the time.. not just when exeem is running. and if you remove the "cydoor" crap, eXeem refuses to connect. peachy.

At least theres exeem lite (http://thefreehost.org/exlite/), which seems to work fine. i just gave up on exeem.. its overhyped shit that doesn't do what it promised at all. but if you really wanna try it, use that.

O, and a big thanks to suprnova. you even gave the spyware fucked version to all of your private beta testers. your reputation should be wonderfully unaffected by that :|

EDIT: wonderful slashdot commentary (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/21/1946212&tid=95&tid=185)

Every thing I've read indicates that the people that ran suprnova didn't actually have anything to do with the site other than lending the name.

And go figure that a software people mostly use for purposes of dubious legality would have no e-ethical standards.

Its not as much that they did it the way they did, its that they fucked everyone over.

It was implied that it would be ad free possibly with a payed version with a few extra features(think limewire)

then they just did this with no notice.

And it was devolped by the people who made the script for suprnova(the whole upload/search system). which includes the main guy who ran SN.

Meh, Soulseek and BitTorrent still do the job.

Between TorrentSpy, Pirate Bay, and a few others BitTorrent still has life.

Haha, I just got rid of the spyware, uninstalled it, and got lite. It isn't really anything special though, you can find everything on it elsewhere...

eXeem users: Congratulations for falling into the *AA pit. I await your complaints of DMCA warnings issued by your ISPs.

eXeem really isn't all that good, not the fastest p2p, not nearly as many files as other networks, and now news is surfacing of it being a trap, it sucks!
