I just got Tales of Symphonia today and was wondering if there was anything I should know or do early on in the game, tips or anything is welcome.

I don't think there are any 'Do this task within the first 30 minutes of the game or else you can't get the best weapon' type things. Except for this optinal boss about 5 or so hours in. He's in the back of a mine.

For a tip I'd say be sure to get used to controlling each character so you don't get in trouble at a boss that emphasizes magic or something and the AI is doin no good.

The battle is system is out there. I've honestly never seen anything like it. Wether I like or not is still in there though cause i've only played like the first two fights. I do find it weird though that they decided to make it an action RPG but do the whole "Go to new screen" thing like a more traditional RPG

Congrats on getting the game Captain N. If you need any help or have any questions feel free to ask. I've beaten it top to bottom twice and I have seen 4 of the 8 endings. :) <<not bragging...just saying... :P>>

The boss battles are monumentally fun! And once u gain the ability to do unison attacks and compound unisons....u'll love it. I found the beginning and first 2 dungeons really difficult.....but it gets easier with time.

Don't attempt that optional boss until you are at least level 20.......sword dancer is a bitch when ur low level.

I used Lloyd through out most of the game.....at other times I controlled Presea. They all handle pretty good once you get used to them....

I'm stupid. How do you switch battle mode back to maunal? Mine's just on semi-auto, but since everyone's too stupid to stand back and use magic instead of rushing up and trying to fight it I want to switch it back.

You actually go to tactics and set a certain character to do what you want them to do. Like you can set Genis to battle long range and with magic, because in default he wants to be a tough guy and attack the dragons with his punk ass Kendama.

It's best to have characters like Genis and Raine keep their distance.

Lloyd, Kratos, Regal, Presea and Zelos are great for front lines.

I have Sheena and and Collette stay mid distance.

Remember you can customize your AI's actions down to a Tee. If you don't want them attack at all put them on "don't persue" <<<<vital for sword dancer>>> and you can manually give them commands....thunder bolt...etc.....

Also when you are fighting say......fire based creatures....make sure you disable their fire based attacks in the menu.......or u will have genis casting fireball or eruption on a fire demon....and actually healing it.....
