Okay, before any of you say "you hate it because you were raised on Playstatin 2 and stuff" I wasn't. I got Goldeneye the day it came out. I was playing it today and I realised how sucky it really is. requires no skill what so ever because of auto-aim. The graphics were really bad. I remember bitching about them when I was 7. Doesn't matter what dun you use, most of them have the same power. I really love the rocket launcher. It's like it sprays gas. Getting a rocket in the face doesn't kill the guys, the fire after the explosion gets them, like your spraying gas at them. I remember liking The World Is Not Enough better.

That's because you were seven at the time and you're 14 now. You have no idea how bad console FPS's were back then. Goldeneye was the first one that was actually accessible and fun to play with killer multi-player. For it's time it was one helluva game simply because it was the only good game on the FPS market.

Don't worry, in about 7 years we'll be talking about how we recently went back to go play Halo and how much that game actually sucked, and how we couldn't figure out how we ever had any enjoyment out of it.

I never liked Goldeneye. Half-Life by contrast is STILL a lot of fun to play today. But yeah the only reason people liked Goldeneye so much is because it was the only FPS they ever got to play at the time.

It's still a great game. I play the ROM pretty often.

Sure it's dated, but it's still great.

I cant remember how old I was back then (I'm almost 16 now), but it was so much fun. The greatest game to me back then for years.

Yesterday in school three of us made a top 5 games list, and Goldeneye was in all three.

It may not be the greatest shooter of all time, but in it's day it blew away Halo and the like in their days.

I dont recall Halo being in existance in those days.

I used the words "In Their Days". Meaning Halo had nothing in it's hayday like what Goldeneye had in it's hayday.

The World Is Not Enough has aged well. I was playing it 2 days ago and I love it.

:)
Seriously, yes.

And no one has gone back to half life and said it sucked yet.. hmmm.

But anyway, yea. i was at my local "Boys and girls clubs of america" after school, and someone donated an N64.

And a shitload of games, seriously. like 50 games. there was a smashbrothers or goldeneey arguement, and everyone said "O, you haven't played *game there supporting* you'll like it if you do" so then we set up goldeneye.... and it sucked... we played it for a while, me and my friend remembered playing this for hours when it came out and it fucking r0x0ring our s0x so to speak. but it was just like playing pong against a computer. no fun at all. then we put in smashbrothers and played that for hours.

And yes to answer your question, i do remember how much console FPS games sucked before that.

Why would I be? Goldeneye's multi and single player modes at their peak blow away both Halo's.

I have always been outspoken about how crappy Halo really is. I love my XBOX, but Halo let me down twice in a row.

Mmk, frankly I couldn't care less about what you think about the game.

Halo was/is a million times more popular then Goldeneye could ever hope to be. THAT's the point at hand, and you can't really debate that.

I loved Goldeneye. I played it so much, and I just thought it was awesome. After we beat it a couple times, we just had fun tricking the terrible AI and jsut doing all kinds of stuff.

Same with Mission Impossible. I loved that game to death, but I mainly loved it for its glitches and just how bad it actually was.

I never liked Goldeneye. Not now, not when it came out. Perfect dark either. Both are to slow and clunky and bore me. My first good console FPS experience was with Duke Nukem. Nobody seems to remember Duke :\

#1: Then why question my opinion

#2: Back in 1997 the gaming market was no where near as large as it is now. Today you have all these dumbass kids whose first FPS was Halo thinking it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Mainstream gaming has gone down the shitter. The largest games are talked about on MTV and E. Goldeneye never had that. Halo has that advantage.

However Halo is over-rated to all hell. I'd give best FPS to Half-Life myself, but on consoles Goldeneye is king.

One can disagree, but to say I'm wrong because of how big Halo is shows you havn't been gaming for very long or you buy into mainstream bullshit.

Do you know how suspnsful the game is in Mutliplayer.

Sometimes I jump out of my seat when I see my oponent jump out of a corner when I'm about to enter that same room. And yeah hours did go so much in multi, 3 of my friends and I stayed abotu passed 3 AM playign that damn game. Then waking up at 6 AM playing it some more, only to be yelled at my friends mom saying "Your playing that damn Nintendo this early in the morning." :smt005

god I love GE, both single player and multi.

Then why should he care about your comment, when you don't care about his?

I still love Goldeneye.
Dualist, I agree that multiplayed is very suspenseful. I played it one on one against my friend a few months back, and I flipped out a few times. Those times were when I had no weapons, and knew my friend either had a shotgun or rocket launcher.

Something about random people popping out of a corner just when your inches away from it..does make you jump.

Haha, now that I remember it...remember the good ol days of GE007 where you looked on your friends other half of the screen, or quarter?

Of course, that's part of the magic of split screen multiplayer.

I remember games where we played with no guns and only chicks.

It was a bitch slap extravaganza.
