Argentina vs. Brazil in the final of Copa America after they defeated Columbia 3-0 and Uruguay 1-1 (5-3 in penalties) respectively.

Carlos Tevez owns j00. Vamos vamos Argentina! Vamos vamos a ganar!

Argentina leads the all-time series 36-33-21 and has won more South American titles than anyone else. Should be a wild finish!

What's your favorite rivalry?

Well my instincts say Manuchester United vs....the rest of the planet. I swear that team is more hated than Millwall!

One of the other amusing ones is Newcastle United vs Sunderland. The Sunderland mob hate Newcastle so much they call Alan Shearer 'The Prince of Darkness'.

Yeah I would think the biggest rivalry is between two English teams, and then between some of the Italian teams. I mean I remember seeing on tv some thing about how at an English soccer game people got so pissed off about what happened that the fans went nuts and like 40 something people ended up dying because of the riot. I know that doesn't happen every game obviously, but nothing like that has ever happened in the U.S. that I know of, not even between the Yankees and Red Sox, the biggest American sports rivalry we have.

Internationally I would have to say Germany vs. England. As for clubs that are hated I know Manchester United is but there is pretty much a team like that in every league. I mean in the Bundesliga Bayern Munich = Germany's Manchester. Basically if you are that "Yankee" type team you will be hated :-P

Argentina has the privilege of having two dominant teams, though River Plate is more like the Yankees in that they keep paying for their talent while the equally dominant Boca Juniors (my fave) develops most of their own. Now with their coach Bianchi leaving them though they might not do so well for a bit. Anyway that's a heck of a rivalry too. USA and Mexico have turned into a decent one over the past decade. Argentina and England is pretty fiery as well. :)

Oh and the game I'm talking about is on Sunday. Should be on Telefutura or Univision if you have it I think. I'm gonna go watch it in a bar..

Oh I forgot about Argentina vs. England. They hate each other too. Hmm I'm beginning to notice a trend here with England :-D

We have umm 'issues' with lots of other nations usually due to the fact that we may have had a few shall we say differences with them outside the field of sport i.e.

Germany - 2 World wars
Argentina - Falklands War
Scotland - The battle of Colluden
France - 100 years war plus the fact that they are French

Sad to say there is a direct correlation between the sporting rivalries and historical relationships :(

Don't forget the England - Ireland rivalry. Funny thing is if/when nations from the Isles get eliminated England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland will route for each other IF their homeland gets booted.

Another good rivalry is the Netherlands and Germany...also in part due to history.

Man.. That was depressing. Brazil only outplayed Argentina for TWO MINUTES (one at the end of each half) and that was enough to earn them a chance at a pure luck penalty shootout (no golden goal in Copa America, boo). 2-2, Brazil wins 4-2 on penalties. If Argentina just had any sort of shutdown ability on defense they'd be unstoppable, but they don't have the patience or discipline for that. Not to mention I can't think of the last halfway decent goalie they've ever had. Gah.. This is why I'm more of a USA fan even though I'm of Argentine descent. Not nearly as frustrating to watch. They always tend to meet your expectations and continue to improve, unlike Argentina which always gets your hopes up for nothing.

Oh well, it was another amazing game regardless, and that's why they call it the "Superclasico" heheh..

Hehe so the 1990 World Cup wasn't one of your favorites either was it? :-P

The Superclasico is back! TWICE this week!

First Argentina takes on Brazil in the U-20 World Cup Semifinals on Tuesday.

Then Argentina and Brazil face off in the Confederations Cup Final on Wednesday!

Should be two incredible games between the two most exciting teams in the world. Last meeting between these two? Argentina clobbered Brazil with three goals in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory that clinched a berth in the World Cup for them.

AR-GEN-TINA! AR-GEN-TINA!

Brazil vs Argentina or Mexico vs USA

LOL well that was embarassing. 4-1 loss to Brazil. I think the extra time and having to go to penalties against Mexico and having one less day off really got to the team, especially the defense, who looked asleep on 3 of those goals. Brazil played well though and buried all their chances, including two very long shots. We made more chances and controlled the ball more but squandered nearly every opportunity. Still think the coach Jose Pekerman was stupid for not making more substitutions earlier and starting nobodies like Bernardi and Delgado instead of Aimar and Tevez.

Heinze has been my scapegoat for the entire tournament and he did nothing to change that today.
