Next, Club Nintendo asked about the online strategy of Nintendo. Reggie answered that Nintendo will be speaking about 'online' during the upcoming E3 event in L.A. He also said that Nintendo will surely give some information about online play before the show.

And a quote from EGM's recent Rumor Mill
Before you go sprinting out the door to purchase a GameCube broadband adapter, allow me to clarify: Nintendo plans to support DS's--not Cube's--online capabilities. Supposedly, the company is putting the final touches on its "Nintendo DS Network," which will let you play online-compatable titles for its dual-screen handheld via Wi-Fi hot spots. And I hear Nintendo and several key publishers will soon reveal some big (and I'm talkin' big) titles that'll take advantage of this most-wanted feature.

So do you think this will be happening soon enough? Or at all? (with online Mario Kart, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing and whatnot)

EGM's rumor mill was really good this month.

And isn't there supposed to be an announcement from Nintendo on the 9th or 10th about the DS?

Supposedly, since Iwata is doing a speech at GDC on that date (3/10/05)

It's already online via tunneling, Isn't it?

Xlink gave up, and I'm not sure about Warp Pipe with their "Demasked" project...but we'll see. But otherwise, it's not, to my knowledge.

Barely, only a few people have successfully managed to tunnel it. And I don't think the connection was good.

New (possible) hint from DS.IGN's mailbag (http://ds.ign.com/mail):

When exactly will a game come out that uses DS's online capabilities? Seriously, it would be so awesome. I also hope that it will be used for Animal Crossing DS. (Trading furniture all over the country without leaving your house!!!)

Say, isn't this week the Game Developers Conference? And hey, isn't Iwata going to be speaking in one of the Keynote addresses? Wow, he sure is. That'll be a lot of fun to watch. -- Craig

I'd like to see a nice port of Quake.

I'd prefer an Unreal Tournament, personally.

Hooray.

And if we're talking about FPS's, y helo thar Doom.

Quake wouldn't be a bad second choice though.

I picked out Quake because Doom is already out for the GBA.

Yeah, but the GBA doesn't have a touch screen and wireless multiplayer does it?

Nope. Maybe a Doom Collection would be more suitable for the DS.

Well, technically there's some GBA games that do have wireless multiplayer physically in the cartridge...

It's official - and Animal Crossing will be one of the titles to be online.
