Like the title says, list your favorites from any genre, I just happen to favor sci-Fi/fantasy .
Here's mine, not in any particular order:
Tolkien's Lord of the Ring (naturally)
Warren Norwood - The Double Spiral War (sadly out of print)
Tad Williams - Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn
Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time
Asimov's Foundation series
Ludlum's Bourne series (just reread them since the movie's coming out)
Agatha Christie's Poiroit series
Sherlock Holmes sereis

There's a few more that I've undoubtly forgotten, but these are the ones I seem reread the most. I'm always looking for something new to read.

Yeah Dune was good. Read it all in one month years ago. Thought he did a good job adding environmentalism as an underlying them, without hitting you over the head in.

Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time

There we go. I also like the Star Wars books and the Ender's Game series. I haven't finished that series or read it in years, but I like the first 3 that I did read. As well as the Golden Compass books I think, theres 3 of them I believe, I read the first 2 but not the third, of course that was years ago.

Speaking of the Star Wars books though if anyone reads them maybe they can answer my question instead of me needing to make a new topics. When Emperor Palpatine comes back to life, or is cloned I'm not sure, and Luke lets Palpatine teach him is that written in any series? They made references to that in a few of the books I have read but I don't know if they actually made a series of it. If so what is the name of the series and what books are in that series? Thanks.

terry goodkind's "sword of truth." i decided to pick it over the "wheel of time" series a couple of years ago when i wanted to start a series. glad i did, three or four of the books are some of the best i have ever read. i recently started the first robert jordan book, and i have had a real hard time finishing it.

Don't worry thats not a big deal. I had the same deal since I was only trying to read it for school. It was a bigger book so it would count as the whole credit twoards the 5 books reports I had to do per quarter back when I was in 6th grade like 7 years ago. I never did finish it though and just kind of ignored it for nearly a year. But I picked it up and read it again and liked it, so I read the rest of the series as well. This series is my all-time favorite series with the first book probably being my favorite one. Just read it with an open mind and don't try to compare it to other books/series. Take it for what it is.

My one complaint about Robert Jordan's series was that some books are good and others have been bad. But when you consider how indepth and detailed, not to mention how large the series is, inconsistency in the writing should be expected.

I wouldn't worry about reading staright through the books, their big and involved, the first one took me awhile to read also.

I recently started getting into heavy reading. I'm currently reading AVP books, books by L. Ron Hubbard, Starfist, and Uplift.
::looks at Zorn's sig:: Heh are you sure its heavy reading that your doing? :p

Anyway what books would be considered bad that are in the Wheel of Time series? I think their all good, some parts may get annoying at time, like having to read a 150 or so pages in a row of Elayne and Nynaeve, but other then that they are all pretty good. Although for some reason even if their good the newer ones just seem different for some reason then the first 3. Maybe its the print or something but somehow they just seem different to me. Like more grown up or something I guess since Rand is a total badass and colder then ice. I hate waiting for the 11th book. :smt085

I thought books 3, 5, and 8 weren't as good as the rest. They just didn't do anything for me. Its possible that reading the 150+ pages of Elayne et.al. is just making me think that the whole book is bad.

I looking forward to the 11th book too.

Right now I'm reading the second book in the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series.

And before anyone asks- Yes, I do know where my towel is. :D

A man should always know where his towel is. I'm looking forward to the movie next year. I want to see how they pull of the look for Zaphod.

Ok this is a MUST for anyone who is a fan of The Wheel of Time series. At the forums for wheeloftime.com someone posted one of the members or former members summary of the book. Trust me they are funny as hell, especially the first part of book 6 between the Dark One and Demandred. Click the link and read through them, its funny as hell and will be WELL worth it.
