Madden 2005 or ESPN NFL 2k5? I might try to get both but right now Im leaning towards ESPN NFL 2k5 because I think the overall presentation looks better and the VIP system is going to be a nice addition. I read scott's impressions on Madden 2005 and he didnt seem to impressed with it so that kinda made me look at ESPN this year. Also, why is ESPN NFL 2k5 $30 bucks cheaper?

Right, ESPN seems to have good value for its price and reading Scott's preview thing just further pushes more toward ESPN

Well some crow about Pro Evolution Soccer series (AKA Winning Eleven) whilst some like FIFA but think that's a little to arcade like....oh wait...you mean American Football don't you? Ah well, I still think this post is relevant as these two franchises in sports games appears to be similar to the Madden vs ESPN titles.
Question is, does this help the development of these sorts of games with two publishers/developers trying to out do one another? Well has to IMHO. As for which game to get I have no idea as I have zero knowledge of American football games as all I see is a bunch of large people with crash helmets trying to play rugby only they seem to be able to throw the ball forward....most odd :)

This year I'll probably try both because ESPN is only $20. I have never really played that series before, I'm interested in giving it a spin.

I'm not too sure which football game I'll be playing this year. I've heard Madden is far superior from some people, but then I hear that ESPN is the better one. I honestly don't know, but the price tag for ESPN smight help ease my decision.

Well, last year I skipped on buying Madden, and ESPN. But this year, ESPN is the one that's got my attention. The $20 pricetag is great, but what really has me interested, is the online league option for ESPN.

I would go with Madden on the Xbox, since now it is XBL compatible, and there would most likely be more people to play against on Madden than the others.

I'm probably going with Madden, it's the only NFL game I've liked enough to buy before, but then again, ESPN is only $20... we'll see when they come out.

Yea, I will be getting ESPN 2k5 even though I have bought Madden since, I believe, about '98. The way people have been talking about ESPN with all of it's features and the $20 also is a good incentive to get the game. Although the only thing I wish, is that ESPN's franchise be a bit deeper, I know you have weekly prep which will be awesome and the in-game presentation in unbelievable with each play saved, amazing, but I wish there were coaching changes, restricted and non-restricted free agents, etc. but maybe in 2k6 :D

I'll still go with Madde even though NFL2K5 is only 20 bucks, I just love the quality of the Madden games over the NFL2K games.

I currently have ESPN 2K5 for Xbox, which is great except for the all too often leagues being down. I prepaid for Madden 2005 (Xbox) today on my lunch break just to be able to play with everyone still since the consensus is that ESPN will be left behind. Me personally, I wouldn't have ordered Madden if everyone would be willing to just keep playing EPSN. :-|

NFL2K series is still the best football game on the planet. I will keep playing it no matter what the EA lemmings do. :)
