While I was at Comic-Con I was able to check out a little-known, recently announced game called LEGO Star Wars and have a chat with someone who is working on the game about the game.
The game is been developed by UK developer Traveller's Tales (http://www.t-tales.com/) and will be co-published by Giant Interactive and LucasArts and will ship next spring for PC, Xbox, PS2, and GBA. The game is aimed at younger audiences, but from my time with the game it looks like it will be fun for all ages. The game uses the timeframe of the current trilogy of films. The graphics are done in the style of LEGO blocks. The gameplay is a mix of on-foot action and vehicle battles. The controls are nice and simple. The game introduces a "drop-in/drop-out" gameplay mechanic which allows players to switch characters on the fly. The game features a co-op mode allowing 2 players to play the game together. In the game the player uses the Force to control exisiting LEGO blocks in the enviroment into structures to help the player access a locked door or inaccessible area that's out of reach.
The game has been in development for about a year now. No GameCube version is currently in the works, but because of the amount of time between now and the time of the release, that can easily change. This game is extremely fun. This is the best game I played while at Comic-Con, better than games such as Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic: The Sith Lords.
I leave you with an exclusive tidbit about the Fantastic 4 game:
The game will be an action-RPG in the vein of the upcoming X-Men Legends.

I really have to question the sanity of some of the people in the industry with all these excuses for now making games for the GC. I simply don't understand the logic in all this. I mean the GC is supposed to be the "kiddie" system yet why would you not make a game aimed AT KIDS for the supposade "kiddie" system? Whos the dumbass who came up with that brilliant idea? I'm just sick of the excuse going "oh well we made game (insert half-assed crappy game here) and it didn't sell well". Yeah well maybe if you hadn't ported the game over a year after it was releases on every other platform the sales would have been better. Don't Star Wars games sell well on Nintendo systems anyway? This just confuses me even more now.

Which would be even more of a reason for them to make it for the GC. As stupid as this may sound to say it seems to becoming clearer thats its not Nintendo thats the problem, but the industry. If you label a system/company as a kiddie system and then make a kiddie game but don't put it on that system don't you find that just a little bit moronic? The only companies complaining really are the ones that don't make games for the Cube to begin with, or just make really bad ones. The big ones like EA and Ubisoft make their games for all 3 and have no problem with it.

LucasArts is not involved.

That explains who the dumbass morons are then. Eidos the wonderful people who brought us ported games a year or more AFTER they made then for the PS2 and/or GC and then bitched and moaned about the crappy sales. Yes this news fits them like a glove.
I think it would have been hilarious, and perfect revenge, if Nintendo had bought out Eidos when they were up for sale a few months ago. Plus it would have been a really smart choice buisness wise since they would have then got the Hitman and Legacy of Kain series exclusivly. Which are two great series to begin with, but are also some of those more "mature" games people are whining about.

I have no idea why people don't make games for the GameCube as much. It's a real shame, because the GC is probably my favorite system (next to PC of course). It's solid, the discs look cool, most of the games for it seem to be of a good quality, etc. I honestly love kiddie games, and the GC handles them well. However, I don't think people are pushing the GC to its limits gamewise. I would definitely like to see more Gamecube releases, but I don't think we ever will. Just an opinion.
Back in the day I remember Lego made this game where you could go around in full 3D and explore different towns or some shit. I forget what it was called exactly, but I think I had the most fun in my videogame life with that game than any other to date. Lego usually makes surprisingly good video games, and I expect nothing less of the Star Wars version. I'll definitely be checking this one out. Thanks for the heads up about it.

If it was a PC game then it was called Lego Land or Lego Island I think. if thats the one you mean where you could walk around an island and deliver pizza or go check out the jail? My cousin's have/had that game and it seemed a fun little thing at times.
Anyway the idea why not as many games are made for the GC is because developers/companies are stupid. EA makes games for ALL 3 systems and, heres the really big thing, puts them out at THE SAME TIME for all 3 systems. Buisness morons, such as the people at Eidos, make a game for the PS2 and X-Box, then see how well it sells, then decide A YEAR LATER that since it sold so well their going to PORT it to the GC. Then when its a year or more AFTER released everwhere else the piss and moan about bad sales. Gee I wonder why the sales are so bad? I mean they only released a port a year late, why doesn't it sell millions of copies? Funny how companies such as EA and Ubisoft who release their games on all 3 systems at the same time don't have this problem.
