Chris Candido passed away Thursday night after collapsing earlier in the evening and being rushed to a hospital by ambulance. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Candido had suffered a serious ankle injury at the Lockdown pay-per-view on Sunday and had surgery to repair the injury on Monday evening. Candido appeared at TNA's iMPACT taping on Tuesday night in Orlando just hours after being released from the hospital.

The news comes as an absolute shock to all of us who have worked with Chris in recent months. On behalf of everyone at 1wrestling.com, our thoughts and prayers are with Tammy and his family and friends. -

World Wrestling Entertainment is saddened by the passing of Chris Candido.

Chris appeared in WWE as Skip of the Bodydonnas in the mid 1990s. He also competed for ECW and WCW, and held both the WWE and ECW World Tag Team titles and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. He was an amazing athlete and a gifted performer, and we offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. -

This really sucks. This guy was one hell of a WRESTLER & for him to go this soon & this young really makes ya sad.

Shit. It always sucks more when they're so young. Just when I started to be big on TNA too.

Holy shit. He maybe wasn't one of the best characters that the WWE saw, but damn he was a good wrestler. He knew his stuff. Of course, his WWE career is miniscule compared to being in ECW. That was where he was great, IMO. Sad to see him go.
