Considering there won't be many people there to begin with it might make them stand out even more. I'm interested to see how much attention it gets.

It's interesting because I had a similar idea to this for speaking out on what a horrible job the NHL and NHLPA have done with the lockout. I'd like to see hockey fans everywhere sit out the first two periods of opening night whenever the league returns to remind them who pays their salaries and what the game is ultimately about.

Interesting idea.

One question though about that.... if you are paying for the whole game... does it really make an impact on the salary part if you only sit out the first two periods? Why don't you just stay home the opening night or watch it at a sports bar?

Just curious.

Well it's not fair to expect fans of the Tampa Bay Lightning to skip watching their championship banners go up in the rafters on opening night. We've been deprived of the celebration long enough. Other teams that didn't win anything though, their fans are free to skip the whole game. Also you don't want the point to be "we hate the game completely just kill the team/league." The point is to make the sharp contrast between a quiet arena with no fans, and a loud boisterous one cheering the home team on, all in the same game. We make the game as much as the owners and the players do, if not more so.

Makes sense to me. Thanks for that.
