Nintendo's Satoru Iwata will break his silence before the year is out on more Revolution details.

Before we ring in the New Year, Iwata will disclose the price, launch date, and finalized details on Nintendo's "Revolution" console. In an attempt to bring simplicity and great gameplay to life, Nintendo has managed to work up quite a bit of outside criticism from not only Microsoft and Sony, but its fans as well.

Although the future of Nintendo remains on the rocks, Iwata is promising to "create games for people who haven't played games but are curious about them" and feels as though the company has "pursued" powerful graphics as long as they could; a lesson that was learned once GameCube sales began trailing behind a seemingly less powerful PlayStation 2. Aside from the graphics power behind the "Revolution" console, Nintendo has stated that it will also include Wi-Fi connectivity, backwards compatibility for GameCube games, and an optional upgrade for DVD playback.

I really, really hope, as a long-time Nintendo fan, that this new console proves the naysayers wrong about their capability to make a console and stand the test of time. I know everything has to be taken with a grain of salt, being hype-time and all, but it's starting to sound more and more like a promising endeavour for the big N. Especially with all these new features being announced. I was disappointed in the GameCube's performance and the uncomfortable (I think) controller, though it has many quality titles. Perhaps the Revolution will not only be for games, but for Nintendo as well. They need and deserve it.

I also read on another site at school that Nintendo was going to keep quiet, so M$ and Sony don't jack their shit. (i.e. Rumble Pack and Dualshock, etc.)

I plan to own all three of the new consoles. I've never owned more than one of any generation at any time, unless you count N64 & Playstation as the same generation.

BAH! By the end of the year probably means right around the same time the next Zelda game launches. I suppose I can wait that long, but let me tell you, waiting sucks! But of course I will because I can't wait for this system.

If it's backwards compatible, there's no worries. Get your Zelda game, save money, get the Revolution, continue playing Zelda game.

I'm excited because I've never played Animal Crossing, and I really want to check it out. It sounds like mindless entertainment for hours. Now I can check it out without worrying about buying two Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo will always have exclusives...So it wouldn't matter wtf they did with their consoles...I would still get it.

I'm not worried about anything, I was just saying how they will probably make this announcment for the Revo right around the time Zelda comes out so as to keep up the Nintendo related hype. Otherwise its just some press confrence that came out of nowhere not near any other big event.

All I know now though is that since I got Mario Soccer, thank you Nintendo, I want Animal Crossing 2 for the Revo. And alot bigger and better then it was the first time, even though the first time it was great. I can't wait to see the graphcis on that though. Most people said they were subpar for AC on the GC since it was an N64 port, but I actually thought they were ok. So with a sequal for Revo not only will it have been using the full GC capabilities, but more since it will be on a next generation console.

So Animal Crossing was good? And yeah, Super Mario Strikers looks kick ass. Mario sports games rock. Smash Bros owned, and Mario Tennis on the Virtual Boy was worth buying the crap gimmick for. Mario Soccer will be great.

So they ARE going to charge us for each game we download...

Good...this way they will gain even more money.

In the last four years Nintendo gained at least 7 billion in profits, now with the Revolution at hand, they will gain much more than just more money...

They will gain a new audience of gamers...

The rich...and the insanely rich

P.S. I don't care if the Revolution is 899$ I'm buying it either way, cuz I grew up with Nintendo....thus I know that all of their games are quality either way you put it...

Except for Virtural Boy..that was teh sux.

So let me get this straight - they'll announce the Revolution mere months before it actually launches? Not a good move. They need to give details now! I doubt Sony & M$ will steal their ideas, because by now everything must be set in stone.

Nintendo Revolution Specifications leaked (5/20/2005)

This morning we received these specs for Nintendo's Revolution from a trustworthy Nintendo insider

After speaking to developers close to Revolution development we can confirm that these are indeed legitimate.

Here is the rundown -

IBM Single 1.5Ghz Risc Core (Broadway)

ATI 300Mhz Graphics Core (Hollywood)

128MB MoSys Ram UMA Total System

Audio Handled via CPU

12x DVD 48x CD-ROM Drive

15GB HDD

Built in WiFi (802.11b/g)

Wireless Controllers

480 ProgScan support

Full Backwards Compatibity With GC Software Library

According to Dualist, Revolution will suck. (He can suck my sack)

He mocks it's 15gb harddrive...Yet Xbox 1 only had a 10gb harddrive, and then later versions only had 8gb's.

Yet Dualist claims:

[17:00] Levineisneeded: Wow
[17:00] Levineisneeded: fag
[17:00] Levineisneeded: 15 gigs is nothing
[17:00] Levineisneeded: when you want to download classic NES games
[17:00] Levineisneeded: on top of game saves

I don't think game saves and NES games are going to take up a lot. Plus you can probably still use memory cards.

This again proves, Dualist is a fucking retard.

Like we needed any more proof that Dualist is a moron.

Now for those of us who are as tech savy as the rest, what do the numbers actually mean? If those numbers were true would it make the Revo only 2-3 times more powerful then the GC like Nintendo said before, or would it be alot more powerful? And if thats the case how about compared to 360 and PS3?

According to Specs, PS3 has the best, 360 has 2nd best, and Revo has 3rd best.

Power doesn't define quality, though. The PS2 was (IMO) better than the Xbox, and it had the weakest specs.

Exactly.

But I still expect this to be the order in the top selling/best rated:

PS3
Revolution
Xbox 360

Is it a huge gap between Rev and 360?

PS2 and Xbox had a seemingly giant gap, do you think it's comparable to that?

Talking about specs, again.

I don't know if these specs are real (they came from Dualist.....with no link)

But 360 has 512mb of Ram, PS2 has 256mb (high quality shit though) and Revolution only has 128mb (according to this leaked info).

I have all 3 systems as of right now...i dont care if the Gamecube is stronger than the PS2 or if the XBOX has better games...

All 3 has somthing i want and love about them and i'm pretty sure its going to be the same way when the next gen comes.

Graphics are always the icing on the cake if you ask me.

That would only happen is Microsoft sold them since they own Rare. And the only way that would happen is if Rare did jack shit and any games they released were utter crap. So if that was the case then why would Nintendo want to buy them back?

going for the "only get what u pay 4?"

for RAM - not too much is needed for consoles, graphics is often most important to keep up the 60 hz framerate..

the 15gb hard disk... if that is true... is plenty, you'd have a hard time filling it up with decent games... and IGN said it had 2 slots for 512mb flash cards anyways
