For me, I would have to say Whiplash for the PS2. It's a platformer that I got for christmas. Its about a weasel who is chained up to a rabbit try escaping a animal testing facility. The point of the game is just destroy the crap out of eeverything you see. It's a great and funny game, but it does have some glitches, but I still love it.

Are we talking about for the PS2 or just in general? I don't really have many games for the PS2 so all the ones I do have are the big hits or some might consider some of them the "overrated" games. Out of all my games I might have to say Luigi's Mansion. This game is fun no matter what anyone says. Sure it might not be that hard or the most indepth game of all time, but its still a game where you can sit down to play it and just have fun. Theres not many games like that around anymore. Another one would be Hercules: The Legenday Journeys for the N64 its a game semi based off of the series. Its pretty fun, when its not pissing you off.

Oh I forgot to add one to mine. Its for the DC and the N64 but I have the DC version. Shadow Man. That game is pretty underrated if you ask me since I never really heard much about it and its a great game. Its fun to play and it provides a challenge, although part of that is because of the DC controller so it makes it harder to turn/strafe. The sequal on the PS2 is.....well not so good. They changed the story around and its confusing as hell to find your way sometimes. Plus I think its to hard, at least the boss I'm at now who just won't die DAMNIT! Anyway try checking this one out, its an Acclaim game I'm sure most of you will like, plus its really cheap used. I got it for like 8 or 9 bucks. Heh maybe I shouldn't have said it was by Acclaim though knowing popular opinion of them?

Definately Primal for the PS2. It had one of the best stories of any game and was just a joy to play. The controls were great, the score was great, the soundtrack was great, the voice acting was great, the graphics were great...I still can't understand how this game was overlooked.

My underrated game is Syphon Filter : The Omega Strain. Judgment Day (a show on G4Techtv) said it sucked and said the company who made it dropped the ball.

I have to agree with the guy above that mentioned GunGrave... that game has awesome artwork and design (is it based on an anime, or vice versa?) and sometimes its cool just to blast the crap out of everything without worrying about puzzles or anything else for that matter. :smt068

I would say the most underrated game i own is MTV Music Generator 3... there is like no real graphics system and you need like 2 buttons, but still, creating your own music on this game is so fun and easy... i just think its awesome for those of us who dont play any musical instruments T_T....

Granted it did have some faults (audio mostly) but it was an awsome concept for a game & I felt it played out well. I liked the storyline, complete with twists.

Probably Rez. It's a rail shooter, but the dark yet colorful graphics and the way your shooting interacts with the existing music make the game unique. The trance soundtrack is right up my alley as well.

For PS2 specifically.... Probably Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Either that or Gungrave (game was awesome despite it's flaws).

In general, it'd probably have to be Popolocrois for PSP. I enjoyed that game, but besides the anime community it holds, it didn't get much attention from gamers.

The Legend of Dragoon is where my name is from! It's a really good RPG.

I really liked Zone of the Enders. While most people bought the game for the MGS2 demo, I bought it for the flying mech-fighting action. I'll post more later.

Megaman Legends for the PS1
Beyond Good and Evil
Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise From The Ashes. for the Dreamcast

Megaman Legends is my favorite Megaman next to the first one. The Gundam game was one of the few good Gundam games but I could never find it so I played it at my friends all of the time.

For me, it would have to be Beyond Good & Evil.
Sorry to bump an old thread but I needed to talk about this game.

Let me first say that I never owned a PS2, I do however own a PS3 (Original 60GB). I'm trying to save money, so I decided to invest on old critically acclaimed PS2 games (they are cheap and I needed to widen my knowledge base).
I've purchased GOW (1&2), Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Okami, and Beyond Good and Evil.

While I've liked every single game mentioned above, I've fallen in love with BG&E.
I've read that is similar to a Zelda game, so that turned me off a little bit (I've played three Zelda games and invested around 20hrs in each before giving up due to frustration).
The pacing in BG&E is great, it always moves forward when my attention span tends to drift. The characters have really interesting personalities, the soundtrack is fantastic and it looks great for a PS2 game.
I'm really happy that we have the sequel coming up soon.

I can't recommend this game enough, and it only cost me $7.

FFX. The combat system is pretty easy and there is no huge map to navigate and forget where you are supposed to go.

Which is the most accessible FF for a JRPG newbie (with an interesting story)? I'd like to get in the FFXIII wagon.
I've only played Bioware and LionHead RPGs

For PS2, it's got to be Primal. For its time, great graphics, strong combat, and an interesting story. The production was really top notch, and the many different forms and powers you could take on were varied and strong. In fact, I'd hazard to guess that The Schafe took quite a bit of influence from it for Brutal Legend.

For the PS1, has anyone ever heard of Tail Concerto? It's about an ANIMU world of anthro cats and dogs. You play as a male cop dog who uses a mech suit and is on a case to stop a trio of female cat burglars (hurf durf). It's cheesy, and badly dubbed, but it has animated ANIMU cutscenes and the gameplay is solid and as silly as you'd expect it to be. The boss fights can be pretty tough, but if you can find it anywhere, I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed BLACK for the PS2, but it is largely forgotten outside of my house. Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium, and since SOCOM:Confrontation didn't bring it, I would say SOCOM 1, 2, 3 & "4" for the PS2. These games introduced me to coffee I played them so much.

Holy shit I haven't seen that name in a long, long time!!!!

To me, the most underrated games are
Timesplitters 2 (play multiplayer with nothing but remote mines, tell me you're not having the best time of your life! They stick to enemies!!)
Ikaruga
Ico
Enter the Matrix (really, fun game if lacking in substance)
Legend of Dragoon
Final Fantasy 9 (I liked it better than VII, I still own it but have no way to play it.)

and the Dreamcast console. Its 10-year anniversary is in september! I can't believe its been that long since I had those swirly posters covering my walls
