Doom 3: Out July 31st?!

I've been browsing a lot of threads on Futuremark forums and there seems to rumors going around that some stores in the United States already have Doom 3 in stock and ready to sell. There was also a webpage somewhere that had pics of the Doom 3 box, manual, and some screenshots of the game that I haven't seen before (could be the beta though). I phoned some stores here (in Winnipeg, Canada) with no luck, but if your really impatient and want Doom 3 now, try phoning some local stores, you might get lucky :smile:

Hmm well if it is out at some places, im sure the pirates have goten ahold of it, so if they can get it out before the rest of the stores, that might end up hurting sales a bit. I know a lot of recording artists release their CD's eirly if they get leaked, in an attempt to get people to buy it instead of downloading it.

And no one is getting more ticked off when it comes to leaks than id, but I'm sure their going to sell lots of copies, regardless if a leak comes out today or tomorrow.

I would haev to agree, the game is also helpoign to sell videocards also, the I know ATI and Nvidia are just loving ID right now.

the game is NOT pirated yet.... which kind of sucks if you are, ahh... into that thing. anyway, When the games comes out, someone is going to make a nocd key and such for it (which is good, because I always lose cd's, but bad because you can use it on pirated copys).

The games going to sell anyway, as long as no one makes a online hack for it.... if someone does (which can happen, as it did with UT2004), then that "may" hurt sales.

When the game becomes pirated it might get so out of hand that id might take the Epic Games route and just ban cd keys associated with pirates or cheaters, which would be a good thing imho.

Yeah but there is nothing they can do to stop people from playing a pirated copy on single player.

you don't understand, there is a hack for UT2004 which gets RID of the cd key, and not just for hacked servers, ALL servers. as I always say, when there is a will, someone will find a way to hack it.

Rumor is now fact, lots of best buys in the states are selling it now (sadly the one here isn't, bastages!)
