I have been a big fan of Game Informer and the Barnes and Noble exclusive British video game mag Edge for awhile now. I think those two have by far the nicest layouts, there pages are stylish, and they really remind me of my old favorite game magizine of choice (the first six months or so of Next Generation). They are usually the old stand bys, and I'll occasionally pick up an issue of EGM.

GameInformer what the hell? GI is fucking terrible.

How the fuck is EGM paid off in reviews? Name one game that got reviewed highly by them that wasn't reviewed highly by everyone else.

EGM's overall average was a 91.6, it had a 90.4 average. So, no, you're wrong.

'splain. I'll admit they have their fair amount of lame gags now and then, and you can tell their reviews are buffed a bit to try and make GameStop money (since it's GS's house mag) but for the most part, it's a pretty solid, independent magazine.

Really, if you ignore the tips section (eye-bending layout), and write off any review below a 7.25-7.5 range as a "serious purchase reconsideration," it's a great read. That you can get for $15 for a year. Not bad at all.

EGM used to be my favorite before it became even more ad-ridden than it used to be. Sure, GI's got ads too, but they're better placed between sections, and it's common knowledge you can just skip the first six pages 'cause those'll be ads too. That, and 1up.com is unimpressive, and EGM pretty much killed Seanbaby. He was funnier when it was just his site. Now he's on Video Game Vixens. Thanks, you bastards.

Gamepro was the shit back in the day up until the Dreamcast days. Then it just went downhill. It was always the place to get cheat codes when there was no internet for the masses and their reviews were always somewhat unbias.

Nowadays, the only magazine I can stomach is Game Informer. I haven't read it in about half a year, but last time I checked, their choices and reviews on games were pretty good and their features weren't half ass.

I just recieved my 100th issue of PSM in the mail today. Is that any indication?

Can't stand EGM, can't stand Gamepro, can't stand Play.

I read the previews in GI, that's about it. Some of their review scores don't match up with what they're writing.

Usually for a review, I ask for a peer one. Any professional one is an average of Gamespot and IGN to give me a decent score on a game.

CGW, PC gamer, OPM, EGM, Macworld, gamepro, PSM.

acronyms are fun!

By the way, I get six of those for free by mail, I love give-aways :-D

I would like to add:

GMR always will have the best covers, PSM had some good ones when it was a PS1 only mag.

Gamepro's cover suck.
