So which team are you rooting for this year?

I don't care about the rest. The Cardinals will win the World Series and Pujols will win MVP. Hell, give Carpenter the Cy Young. This is their year.

How can Washington and Atlanta both win their division when they're in the same division? (And hell, the Mets are in the same division as Washington and Atlanta...)

I mean, I agree that both Washington and Atlanta can make the playoffs, but one of them will be the wildcard team, most likely Atlanta being the wildcard.

Hey they play in a different league. :p

It's hard to maintain sanity let alone your faith when your team plays THIS bad, and by this bad, I mean worst team ever bad. I'm not ditching the Rays but times like these call for a little distraction.

I could have said Go Red Sox you know..

I was just kidding around. I know what you mean. I was a big Lakers fan and it was just hard to keep cheering for them last year. It's hard to cheer for an asshole like Kobe anyway.

Chris, those picks are out there. I'll put down fifty bucks saying Philly doesn't even make the playoffs.

No, they probably won't make the playoffs because they're the most inconsistent team in the league. But I'm a homer (obviously), and I have some faith in them. Hell, maybe Wade will shock the hell out of the entire city of Philly and acquire a starter at the deadline (Zito, Schmidt, etc.).

Lou Piniella rules.
Piniella is scum. Apparently his latest ploy to get fired is to destroy the team's top relief prospect, Chad Orvella. The kid managed to throw 3 1/3 shutout innings, and Lou sends him right back out for the 7th, where he lost it. Maybe no one told Lou that Chad's a closer. He left the kid out there for 58 pitchers. Way to abuse your "closer of the future."

Lou is only learning from the biggest scumbag of them all.

But yeah, his temper is really getting annoying. I don't blame him for being upset (our 8th inning troubles have been patently ridiculous even before the stunts he's been pulling) but that doesn't mean you hang your players out to dry the way he's been doing all too often this season.

Heh, Piniella's always been bush league. I don't think he has much left to learn.

True, I don't like it when any manager ruins a young player's psyche (see: Charlie Manuel with Gavin Floyd), but some of the stuff he does is pretty funny with the way he's trying to get fired.

It's not just about psyche, even. The kid's never thrown more than 40 pitches or 2.1 innings. It's remarkable he went 3 1/3, considering he's a closer. But to send him out there again, and leave him out there for 60 pitches, waiting for him to lose it, is ridiculous. Dude's gonna wreck his arm.

They're not as bad as the 02 Tigers.

Ironically I picked the Marlins to win it all this year.
